NetLimiter VS NetBalancer: Which Is Better?

OK so i'm looking to buy some bandwidth shaper software since i'm frequently limited on bandwidth and don't have a reliable Internet connection at home. NetLimiter and NetBalancer seem to be the most obvious choices, but which is better, in terms of features, functionality, full compatibility with Windows 8, etc. I also would like to know the upsides and downsides of each program, and whether either has features that the other doesn't have, and, if so, which ones. I tried the trial version of NL about 6 months ago on win7 ultimate x64 and it froze my computer at random times for no apparent reason. I did a little research recently and found that the issue was most likely me trying to run bittorrent/p2p apps and NL at the same time, which seems to cause issues for some people. I also read that it has something to do with NL's built-in firewalling functions either being enabled or not. Also, it states on the NL website that there will be a win8 compatible version probably released sometime this month, whereas the NB website already claims to havbe win8 compatibility.

So, who has any experience using these programs (please don't reply if you've never used either). what are your opinions? both cost the same, just want informed opinions from other users first.

Thanks for any help/advice!

I've used NetLimiter and it was pretty easy to use (I didn't use the built-in firewall though since I use Comodo), but I've never used NetBalancer. When running torrents I'd recommend using the program's bandwidth limiter (uTorrent's is good).

Thanks for replying. From what i can telll NL seems to be more popular andi think it's been around longer. but ive also heard that both apps have a tendency to freeze/not respond/crash,especially BSODs with NL. on the other hand, itdoes appear that NB has slightly more features/functionality, although i couldbewrong. havealso heard that NL customer support rarely responds, which is obviously important since im planningto pay. if support wontrespond then its not worth paying for, in which case im either better off looking elsewhere, or pirating. More important than anything else though,is that neither app shouldcause system instability issues.

Thanks in advance for any additional help/responses provided!

You have a good point with the support issue. I don't know of that personally because I took the route of 'trying before buying' with NL, though I never bought it. On the other hand, I don't really need it either so it's been long gone from my storage. Either way, I would suggest to keep looking at reviews and other products - and don't forget about the freeware either (from what I've found by searching, there aren't many freebies out there though).

Good luck to you.
