Solved Skype

Hey guys, hopefully someone can help me out.

I installed Skype from the Microsoft Store, went through the installation process, and then it brought me to the Skype home screen (where you can see your contacts, ect.) However, as soon as it gets to that screen and makes the Skype start up noise, it brings me back to the Windows Home Screen. It shows the app is running in the left side bar (if you put the mouse in the upper left corner of the screen and view all running programs) but when I click on it, it just opens for a quick second and then closes back out.

Anyone else run into this problem?

Thanks

Just a side note about your message. From what I understand, the app bar on the left is only recently opened apps, not running apps.

Megapanda,

In response to your post: Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Windows 8 Desktop is Switch List (accessible from the left sidebar), which is by default hidden, but when you hover mouse pointer over top-left corner, it shows all active Metro apps. This left sidebar makes it easy to quickly navigate between all applications running in the background.

Above information found at: What’s New In Windows 8 Desktop, Start Search, And Start Screen [Review]

anyways, has anyone else had this issue with Skype not staying open?

I use the desktop version in 8...I'm not liking the metro Skype at all.

Use desktop mode, go to Skype home page, download Skype for desktop. That's it.

I haven't used Skype yet (waiting for a new webcam). But I've noticed this behavior in a number of other Metro apps such as Xbox Music:

here's a sample video showing the behavior:
