Metro apps keep telling me they are offline

Hi folks

I bought Win 8 Pro today and upgraded from windows 7. When I connect to the internet via the desktop everything works perfectly (connected to home wifi) but whenever I try to launch a metro app I get general issues that I'm not connected to the internet, check my connection and try again... see attached screenshots

What I've tried
  • creating a new user account
  • creating a new admin account
  • using a local profile
  • using my Hotmail account
  • refreshed the install / lost all programs (will be a pain to reload all)

when I view the network and sharing centre it doesn't show my active connection (see attached)

Has anyone came across this?

I was thinking of trying a clean install, or perhaps using a different connection; phone as modem etc

Any help would be appreciated.

Barry

**update**

I used my phone as a modem and that connection showed in the N&S centre and allowed me to use some/most of the Metro apps such as the market, messaging, mail and sky-drive... I'm not exactly sure what this means or how to resolve the issue

Hope someone can help

Go to change adapter settings, disable your network connections, reboot and see whether it resolves. You could also try resetting your Router. HTH.

Cheers for the suggestions dude... sadly no joy

I'll keep working on it and post my progress / findings here to hopefully help others who might have the same issue in the future.

I had this issue. I fixed it by disconnecting from my wireless network then reconnecting to it. No idea if it'll stick after reboot, though.

I had the same issue.
Here is how I resolved it: I switched user and tried with another profile. Everything worked in the other profile. I went back to my profile, bingo!
Not sure why and for how long.
If this does not work, try deleting temporary internet files.
