In the rules (#35) it states, bluntly, " No plagiarism"
Definition: "To use the words or ideas of another person as if they were your own words or ideas. "
This must, indeed, be an impossible thing to censor in a Windows help forum. Pretty much all help has been offered, at some time or other, in different forms. It becomes an easy way out to copy and paste from another's work, without editing.
Even today help was offered on a network solution which contravened the rule. I offered the same solution several years ago, and I was no the first. It has been repeated countless times on the web, over those years and, as in the instance mentioned, an identical copy of the original, without reference to the original author, who could probably not be traced in ant case. It is a general solution, with a straightforward answer, but no attempt was made to alter it or refer to a previous internet entry.
This happens on a daily basis and one can only take it that leniency must be applied by the moderators and administrators, when seeing such posts.
I was recently censored, for a minor digression, and, ashamedly, read the rules for the first time. Whilst I found I was definitely "guilty" of some trivia, I was surprised to read, and see, how many of the rules were in fact being broken on a regular basis.
Worth reading if members have not already done so.
