Solved Metro apps only closing with alt f4

But if I wanted to leave it open I would just go back to my desktop and continue working, no input needed from me. Doing nothing achieves the same purpose as doing something, which is kind of the very definition of useless. The only thing that "closing" it does is remove it from the app switcher...

Solved Metro apps only closing with alt f4

Wow, that's incredibly annoying. So there's no way to close an app from the desktop without opening the task manager, and if I want to close the app from within it without reaching over to my keyboard, I have to wait 2 seconds to do so? Ugh, that is terrible behavior. If I wanted to leave an...

Solved Metro apps only closing with alt f4

Hello all, I don't know if this is intended or not, but my Metro apps will only completely close if I use alt+f4 from within the app to close it. If I pull the app down from the top with my mouse, or I go to the switcher, right click, and click close, the only thing that happens is that my...

Skydrive no longer syncing, makes duplicate files

Well, that caused it to sync all right, but it only synced the ones that didn't have duplicates (there are a few files which weren't duplicated for some reason). The vast majority which had duplicates remain unsynced. *sigh*, so Skydrive creates duplicates for all of my files, then proceeds to...

Skydrive no longer syncing, makes duplicate files

Hello all, Before installing Windows 8.1 anything that I put into my Skydrive folder (I had the desktop app) were automatically synced to Skydrive.com as well as my Android phone app, and anything I uploaded from my phone app were synced to Skydrive.com and were automatically downloaded to my...

Windows 8.1 boot times triple that of Windows 8

Boot in general just takes longer. The loading screen right after pressing the power button takes longer, the loading screen after logging in to my user account takes longer, etc. I haven't tried doing anything yet because it still boots fine, it just does it a lot more slowly. Do you think...

Windows 8.1 boot times triple that of Windows 8

Hello all, I installed Windows 8.1 on the 17th and I noticed that immediately after the install my boot times went up from 30 seconds to anywhere from 75-100 seconds. I thought it might just be files being shifted around on my disc so that my computer had to search for them all over again...

Aero Peek not working for some windows in a specific case

Well if that's the only solution I think I'll just wait until Windows 8.1 comes out and maybe that upgrade will fix it.

Aero Peek not working for some windows in a specific case

No, the window underneath is definitely smaller. When it's on top or peeking out from the edge of the bigger window the outline shows, but when it's completely concealed underneath the bigger window the outline stops showing.

Aero Peek not working for some windows in a specific case

There's a case where aero peek doesn't work properly with windows like it should. If a window is completely hidden behind another window, using aero peek doesn't show the outline of the hidden window, just the outline of the window in front. Is this behavior intended? Am I just late in noticing...

    Share feature not working

Well the share feature itself can be used by anyone I think. I use it with my News Republic app and it works just fine. It links a picture with a formatted snippet of info from the app itself, along with a clickable link. If the articles from the News app can only be shared with other people...

    Share feature not working

Hello all. So when I want to share, say, an article in the News app or something, I click on the share charm while reading the article and choose to share by Mail. (I can't even share to the people app, which...uhh...good going Microsoft?) Anyways, I send it and all that arrives is the...

Files get saved in the wrong library when dual booting

Thank you for the very quick replies Brink. It is much appreciated ^^. Anyways, it is currently 2:30AM where I am so I will try that option in the morning, but in the meantime I tried option 1 just out of curiosity and found 2 folders of each type (i.e., 2 My Music folders, 2 My Documents...

Files get saved in the wrong library when dual booting

If it helps, when I click on restore defaults on an individual library's properties window, it restores the save locations to the E drive path.

Files get saved in the wrong library when dual booting

No, I just left my old user folders as they were when I stopped using 7 and saved all of my new stuff to the new user folders when I switched to 8.

Files get saved in the wrong library when dual booting

Hello Brink, Thank you for the response. I looked at both tutorials and found that the included folders in my libraries are the default ones listed in the first tutorial (i.e., My Documents and Public Documents on C drive, My Pictures and Public Pictures on C drive, etc.). I then followed the...

Files get saved in the wrong library when dual booting

So I have both Windows 7 and 8 on my machine and am currently primarily using 8. I save all of my work and files to my 8 partition C: whenever I choose the location, but for applications/programs that automatically save to a library and where I can't choose the location, those programs always...

Never mind, uninstalling and reinstalling did it. Phew, those tiles were bothering me for the longest time. Thanks again!

Solved Windows 8 tiles blurry/out of focus

That did it! Changing the size of the tiles from square to rectangular or vice versa fixed the issue! Now all of the icons are crisp again. Well, almost all. The camera app doesn't have an option to change the size so it's still blurry. Now it's the only one. Unpinning and repinning it does...
