Ah, I think it's because it depends on where you download the latest version. If you manually download it from Adobe website it will show 26.0.0.126 and if it's the embedded Flash Player through Windows Update it will show 26.0.0.120. Guess both download methods and versions works. Thanks

It's just a Windows Defender malware component patch released by MS to improve functionality. If you installed this past month's Security Monthly Quality Rollup (KB4019215), which supersedes KB3038936, you can just hide it.

Where did you get the copy of W8.1? Is it retail or an OEM product key? I would try doing another clean install of W8.1 and go straight to manually downloading and installing the above mentioned updates then check for updates again.

Yeah, most unfortunate. That's why I don't bother installing the Monthly Preview Rollups, which by the way is an optional update, that comes out on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Hopefully they have a fix when the next Monthly Rollups come out on April's Patch Tuesday, or better yet sooner...
