Microsoft: We aren't going to have three different Windows

Here we go, the tech media and bloggers finally got info that they can spin into "I told you so" for their past articles. It only makes sense that Windows Phone and RT are going to become one, it's not really a death it's more of an evolution for ONE OS to run both on phone and tablet. It also...

Windows Loses Some Users Despite the Arrival of Windows8.1

Absolutely laughable, 1% decline this year in market share? Really? How devastating. These so called analysts and tech bloggers will take any opportunity to create doom and gloom scenarios for Microsoft. With all the dissatisfaction about Windows 8 since it's release it was the perfect...

The Surface RT is simply a very bad product

@AceInfinity I don't mean any disrespect, I just don't understand why you would take a chance and spend that kind of money on the Surface RT in HOPES that you could develop ARM for desktop applications. It was a bad assumption that you could, without the current hack, just based on the fact...

The Surface RT is simply a very bad product

How is the fact that you can't install desktop applications a limitation when it is part of it's design? The issue you have isn't the "limitation" it's that you bought the wrong device. They announced the Pro at the same time as RT, if you needed desktop applications then you should have waited...

The Surface RT is simply a very bad product

That's funny, my wife and I both have a Surface RT and we've not experienced these issues at all. Perhaps he is stuck in a time warp of October 2012 when the RT was released and had performance problems. There have been many firmware updates since then that have improved performance and 8.1 has...

Delivering best email experience on tablet with Windows

With 8.1 on RT you get full Outlook as part of office now. I set mine up when I got 8.1 but have never used it since the mail app works well enough and better with touch.

FAA advisory panel clears Wi-Fi for takeoff

It's about time because it has gotten ridiculous, they don't even allow you to keep your phone on airplane mode which turns off all wireless signals, they want the device completely off. I've been traveling for years and have only used airplane mode and keeping the phone on, haven't crashed a...

8.1 Evaluation from Windows Secrets Newsletter

Nice try Paul, considering that the command prompt has evolved into the power shell window the command line has not gone anywhere, just like the desktop won't go anywhere.

Surface Pro 2 will be announced in NYC on Sept 23

Surface 2 not Pro 2, I don't need legacy apps on my consumption tablet. Pro 2 is nice though, maybe when it's time to replace my laptop i'll look at that.

Surface Pro 2 will be announced in NYC on Sept 23

I would dump by Surface RT for a Surface 2 if it had LTE and a digitizer.

IDF 2013: Intel Distances Itself From Windows 8, microsoft

I don't see how the 5c will be a huge hit, it's supposed to be their budge iPhone and sells for $99 on contract. Windows phone is gaining traction in international markets with their budget phones that sell off contract from $100-150.

Tablet Sales in Fourth Quarter Could Surpass PCs,...

Duh really? Thanks for stating the obvious IDC, anybody with half a brain could have made that projection based on rising tablet sales and declining PC sales over the years.

Windows 8.1 won't rescue PC market this year, IDC says

Yes really. If people require a new PC they will buy it, whether they choose to stick with W8 or install W7 it is still a sold PC. Mac and Linux market share is not increasing by any numbers close to the decline of PC sales so they are not going there. Tablets on the other hand are increasing in...

Microsoft Surface naming debacle about to get worse

Not that hard to explain really, at least I've never had an issue explaining my Surface RT to anyone. Besides, RT has been available for almost a year, the media has complained ad nauseam about the differences and it's on the Windows RT device retail box..."DOES NOT RUN LEGACY WINDOWS...

Will the lack of good Windows 8 apps kill Windows tablets?

A lack of good Windows Phones apps, until this year, didn't kill Windows Phone so the answer is no. A year after the first Android tablets hit the market there were less than 20 tablets apps, they were running phone apps stretched across the screen which looked like crap.

Did we all just witness Windows start to die?

Right click any link and open in new window or hit ALT on your keyboard to bring up the top menu and under File select New Window.

Did we all just witness Windows start to die?

Yea, that's exactly what your average consumer would use Linux for, we've been clearly talking desktop in this thread.

Did we all just witness Windows start to die?

There's already a NIX OS that is a single distro and well supported called OSX and yet it's only managed some 7% market share in 12 year's of existence (surpassing Linux market share BTW). Even with all the Windows 8 "issues" people are not jumping ship, they are either staying on their current...
