To follow up, after having the drive slaved and running some more checks with the repair utility, on putting the drive back into my laptop, Windows (on the C partition) then started to BSOD on boot. Tried various repairs and then have to give in......accepted data loss on the full drive and...

Oh and to top it all off now my C partition with Windows seems screwed! 0xc000021a error when booting, can't browse it when slaved off another machine. Fun :)
