This is actually wrong, aero lite is used for high contrast themes, because it doesn't contain any images and therefore colors of system can be easly changed through it. It's not "basic" replacement. the basic is there still (win7 one) but even tho if hardware doesn't support it windows 8 uses...

I don't get why everybody using some 3rd party programs when you can get a real deal with not much hassle at all.

How did you get explorer running in PE?

Aero is still there, its transparency and blur which are gone.

Except you got it all wrong. Who really uses "desktops" nowadays? Everything is mobile. Tablets are the future. Windows 8 works perfectly fine with touchpad also (laptops), so Microsoft would kill itself if they would have done another "desktop", "laptop" OS as usually. Noone even cares about...

Why it should not run dx9 games? Aero skin not possible, because blur is removed and for now, cannot be restored. Seems like MS removed code for it.
