I can confirm that the last driver fixed the problem. Also, sleeping, rebooting and shutting down no longer hangs the computer or produces bsods. Thank you both for all of your help and diligence. I honestly didn't think I'd get such good help so quickly, but i really appreciate it.

I just scanned the file on Jotti's malware scan and no malware was found.

After renaming that driver my computer was unable to reboot, even while in safe mode. It would bsod immediately. I had to log into windows 7 and change it back.

I was unable to identify the motherboard, most likely because its a laptop. It displayed "System Model HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC" I've already downloaded the latest HP drivers, problem is there not exactly new. The laptop model is the DV6-6108us, if that helps.

Thanks so much. Just finished testing it and it shuts down and restarts perfectly.

I'm running windows 8 consumer preview and whenever i try to shut down, the screen will say shutting down until the computer eventually BSODs. The same happens whenever i click restart.
