    Backup DVDs still not delivered?

Took 3 weeks for me, and a few complaints on net, and by phone. They eventually turned up a day after a call to Microsoft. A cheapie plain blue sampler-style cd cardboard open out booklet style case with 2 discs in. 32 and 64.

In spite of all the hate, I like Windows 8

Had LOADS of problems with Firefox. Chromium and Opera run fine, yet Firefox was a dead end. Never heard of Waterfox before, and thanks for that info, as now Ive got an offshoot of Firefox doing the job Firefox SHOULD have done !

In spite of all the hate, I like Windows 8

Like Windows 8 and love the tiles. What I DON'T like is the utter mess that has been made in Europe with shipping the Windows 8 back-up dvd's. I'm in UK the distribution centre is GERMANY (WHY ?????) and its nearly 3 weeks and they still haven't shipped it. Quite a few annoyed people, and calls...

Will 'normal' Windows users want a Start button for Windows 8?

I'm not missing the start button personally.

    Microsoft sued for Tiles ( theregister.uk )

Patent thing is a joke. The lawyers love it because they can make a bomb, and the truly big companies can wiggle out of even genuine ones (which I very much doubt THIS one is) but end up paying a fortune to lawyers. Every time something "new" comes out theres a string of these kind of "firms"...

Windows 8: Do you need it?

Gun or knife carrying carrying thugs on the street have the same mentality - that it's "butch" and "macho" to carry a weapon and threaten others but...er....the person they're threatening shouldn't have a weapon.....the word Im thinking is the OPPOSITE of macho or butch (sorry - this sort of...

    Two minor irritants

One - when I am putting pictures into a folder, in 7 it would say something like theres a pic with same name, replace it or add both ? (Name would be changed slightly) it doesn't in eight. Either replace it or do the name yourself. I linked my live.co.uk email address with the password for...

In spite of all the hate, I like Windows 8

I think it's great too. I seriously begin to doubt much of the "informed" criticism after using it for a few days. Yes, some things I'm not sure about but I'll get used to it. That Firefox doesn't work properly with it is a mystery, and strange they don't seem to have made much of an effort...

A BSOD a day keeps the owner at bay

Problem with monitor through Windows 8

Since I just bought Windows8, my new ips LG monitor will NOT fill the full screen. Theres a black border round the edges, mouse won't go into, no way to get rid of it (with my old Samsung, this appeared but I managed to get rid of it by using the Catalyst prog, but Windows 8 says there is...

A BSOD a day keeps the owner at bay

Thanks for the help. Certainly beyond my meagre abilities to understand, these bsod. Its hardly a crappy or old PC either, either.

A BSOD a day keeps the owner at bay

Baffling. Haven't a clue why its happening and no help at all from Windows. Sometimes I'll go out for a while or come back to my comp after dinner, and "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" - bsod in other words. Temps are not the problem (checked) but dunno what is Intel i5 2500k...

Uh Oh, Microsoft's Surface Tablet Is Getting Some Awful Reviews

Doubt it. They've over-hyped and worse - overpriced it. (Its what Microsoft does after all - it's worked for Apple you see)

If These 5 People Who Tried Windows 8 Are Normal...

Tried the pre-release one, and quite liked it. Enough to actually pre-pay for it, so I'll be on it from Friday (or whenever) however, Ive done a back up to go back to Windows 7 if need be.

Anyway to anchor icons ? To have them stay where put ?

No matter how I close down Windows 8, the position Windows 8 puts the icons is where the open with. EXACTLY WHERE I DON'T WANT THEM !

Those annoying black curtains jumping in from left and right

Nope, haven't noticed. Haven't been carried away with mobilemania. Tend to use a phone as an ...er...phone.

Those annoying black curtains jumping in from left and right

Stick with Windows 7 ? Thats what I'm going to do. Do I detect a "no criticism allowed of new product" here ?:p The tone seems a teensy bit petulant, if you don't mind me saying
