It must be the update to 8.1 that has screwed it then as I cannot do anything at all with Thunderbird even after reinstalling it. Is there anything I can do or should I find another mail program? I'm only using this because Outlook Express won't work.

Have now solved the password prob - it was Kaspersky. I have disabled the vitual keyboard and will ask them how to progress this. Just need to sort the email now. I have posted for help on this in another possibly more suitable thread.
