When I am watching a movie via Media Player Classic, I would like to use my phone to operate as a remote. So it requires a program loaded, like Unified Remote or the like. Would it be possible to load it automatically and unload it when I exit the movie player?

It's amazing the difference seeing with your own eyes. Everything worked out and Windows 8 self-activated, I didn't even need to pop the number or activate online. Also, weird thing: Acer removes the ability to wake laptops with external mouse or keyboard when the lid is closed. Go figure...

Tried FN F5 and disconnecting the LCD, nothing. Apparently new laptops only turn on the VGA and HDMI ports in Windows, since my wife's Asus works the same way. Will try installing win through USB now.

I remember doing it a little while ago and while I lost the activation, the drivers self updated fine. I should be able to do it with Acer and activate it using the notebook code. However, I don't think it even boots properly.

How do I tell? I booted from my spare laptop's DVD-ROM, deleted all Acer's partitions and installed the new system. Is there something else I should have done?

Well, I've installed windows 8 on HDD using another laptop, however, when I try to boot the Acer, I don't see anything on the external display. I guess I'm stuck without the new LCD.

Wish it was that easy. I may get lucky booting from USB. All PC's I previously came across always show picture as soon as they boot. This one only shows it once in Windows Logon. Is it possibly to create a recovery disk on one PC to use on this one? Both are running windows 8.
