Thanks Caperjack, Tried using CCleaner both the registry cleaner and the uninstaller, it didn't work. Finall succeeded by using Advanced Uninstaller and deleting all references to HP in the registry. Still would like to know where Windows stores install history. Does anyone know?

It does not show in programs and features. The model number is C7250 Does anyone know where the original install information is installed? Registry? somewhere else?

Thanks. Sorry I wasn't clear. I have the software and drivers from HP, when I try to install it, it says I must install on my D: Drive. There must be a history contained from the original install somewhere on my c: drive or in the registry.

Sorry I wasn't clear my MB does not support secure boot and that may be causing the slow start up.

Sorry if this thread is out of date. I have a ASUS P8Z68-V Pro which doesn't support Secure Boot as a previous poster mentioned. Is this why my dual boot boot is taking so long to load? From re-start or cold boot it takes about 60 seconds to reach the dual boot screen. Is there anyway to fix this?

Yes I wiped the SSD created 2 partitions, installed Windows 7 first, then Windows 8. After instillation I refreshed Windows 8. Still a very slow boot.

Well unfortunately there-install didn't improve things still very slow to load. Maybe some one out there has other possible fixes. thanks znod for you thoughts.

I set up a dual boot with Windows 7 and 8 and it is extremely slow up until the Windows 7 and 8 appear. From that point on both load quickly. Also under the Windows 7 icon it says "recovered". Otherwise eveerything seems to be functioning normally. Any thoughts thanks
