I was deadset against Windows 8

If you hate computers, I definitely wouldn't go with downgrading to Win7. Making it behave like Win7 would be much easier and have the least overhead. Of course, you can make it behave like Win7 by simply powering on the laptop. Install a 3rd party start button replacement if you want, but...

    Solved pup virus

PUP = Potentially Unwanted Program, if I remember right. These come in all shapes and sizes and the damage done can range from nothing to rendering your PC useless. I second the Malware Bytes suggestion above ^. Download it and update it fully before running a full system scan. Also, what...

I was deadset against Windows 8

I've never seen ModernMix before. That's a pretty cool idea. I don't understand why Microsoft opted out of including a simple "X" or close button somewhere on Metro apps. An auto-hide menu at the top right to snap, close, minimize, etc. would've been such a great feature as dragging the window...

    New PC Build

Just in case you think I was serious, I was being sarcastic.

Anybody else tired of hearing these lame Win 8 complaints?

Yea, I'm just confused as to how this was introduced as a "new" feature in Windows 8.1. I suppose that simply making it more accessible in the standard Start Screen view helps.

    New PC Build

You're probably right. He might want to start a bit smaller and work his way up to that level.

I'm fairly certain mine just zooms out. Maybe I'm thinking of a different button. All I know is I can name app groups in vanilla 8.

Anybody else tired of hearing these lame Win 8 complaints?

I keep hearing this sported as a "new feature." Isn't it the same as zooming out in plain 8 (using the minus (-) key at the bottom right) and right clicking on a group?

Prince of Persia forgotten sands not working

What exactly happens when you try running your game? Does it give you an error message? Black screen? Nothing at all? Don't be so quick to do so. If your game doesn't work on Windows 8, there's a decent chance it won't work on Windows 7 either. There are numerous guides on this available...

    100% CPU Usage & 100% Disk Usage

Thanks for the reply! I wasn't aware of performance/indexing features that ran automatically like that. That would certainly explain the usage, but I still find 100% spikes to be strange. I'm also still worried about the slight mouse lag occuring randomly, but I'll just hope that's a product of...

    100% CPU Usage & 100% Disk Usage

Hi all, I'm having a bit of trouble with Windows 8 on my laptop (I've named my laptop Romulus for future reference in this thread). First off, let me give you a brief history on Romulus' journey thus far: 1.) Bought pre-built from ACER with Windows 8 64-bit installed. 2.) After playing around...
