As someone who was against 8 inch Windows tablets....

Yep, the keyboard sold me yet again. I was against touch keyboards on tablets because of android and mainly the ipad and how those aspect ratios just don't work that well for a workable keyboard. Surface tablets come out along with others, I tried those out and was rather surprised at how well...

As someone who was against 8 inch Windows tablets....

I'm sold. There, I said it, I want one. The other day I was poking around some Windows tablets out on display at the amazon showroom and picked up the 8 inch Windows tablets. Before, my experience with such was playing with a Dell Venue Pro 8 and that was just something that boggled my mind...

Hard Drive Reliability Update – Sep 2014

I guess it comes down to more personal experience with different brands and the luck you have with them. They used consumer grade ones because the enterprise grade ones apparently don't last any more longer than the consumer grade ones and aren't worth that cost for a slightly longer light...

The Surface Mini did exist, and was later killed

I'd be more interested than anything for a Surface 3 with Windows 9 RT. I just want a damned Surface tablet for OneNote with an awesome pen for under $5-600... :(

The Surface Mini did exist, and was later killed

Ugh, that really sucks they did that. Apparently the thinking is that the Surface Mini was a one trick pony as it's only good a note taking device since it's Windows RT and has inking capabilities like the Pro. That's not entirely true I find as RT is a fine platform for what it is. My bet is...

Hard Drive Reliability Update – Sep 2014

Seems about right in my case. Out of all the years I've replaced hard drives, I've come across SO many Seagate drives it's ridiculous. Very few have been Western Digitals.

    Conspiracy thought of the day...

I agree, just look at how slow retailers have been at getting chip and PIN readers in place. They still have a full year to do so and bet you anything, it'll be all next year stores magically have all new card readers.... :sarc:

    Conspiracy thought of the day...

Some merchants apparently have been working together with some other major companies to bring about NFC payment. I think att is one of those companies. Speaking of such, I found out that the new card readers at my local Home Depot apparently are NFC enabled! I saw some guy with an android do...

    Conspiracy thought of the day...

The new apple pay apparently will deduct an unknown amount per transaction if apple pay is used. Sounds sketchy, more like an apply pay tax.

    Conspiracy thought of the day...

For a company that has had notorious software and detail leakage in its history, the upcoming release of Windows 9 and Windows Phone 9 have got to be the most driest rumor wells I've ever seen in recent years. The only thing we've had is a post Windows 8 build that had nothing, literally nothing...

How to re-install windows 8 from install.wim file

I've never personally used a recovery image to restore Windows 8 before, but I'll make a stab at this. I was going to suggest using DISM until I read you have a recimg file to use. So here it goes... If you have a USB installer drive of Windows 8 or a DVD (if not, you can use WinPE or make a...

'Windows' for your phone instead of Windows Phone

When I see "Windows for your phone" I automatically ask if said phone is running an Atom processor. It's just habit. On one side, it's iffy because saying it's Windows for your phone has some connotations of doing things Windows PCs can do, which is not the case. On the other, it's interesting...

    Conspiracy thought of the day...

What if Windows 8 was intentionally designed to be the way it was? As in, some user test groups were reported to all have had a negative response to Windows 8's UI, so why would Microsoft not change that before release? Why? Lighting doesn't strike twice. Windows 7 is and was Microsoft's...

    Windows 8 haters

I'm mildly surprised at the poll results so far. It's not like how it was a year ago where it was more 60/40 split where more yays than nays. As for Windows 8.1.1, it's fantastic. There are things they did shoot themselves in the foot with the initial release of 8, but rectified it partially...

    Windows 8 haters

I used Windows 8 as my main OS since October 2012 and can't understand this. The Release Preview was basically identical to the RTM. The main shift in UI design came from Developer to Consumer Preview where that did actually require relearning of things because quite a bit changed.

    2014 Honda Civic EX

That's pretty cool! :thumb:  But for me, my 24 year, nine month and five day old Mazda 626 still is better in my mind than a lot of newer cars these days. That digital gauge display above the analog in your Honda, my car did that first. It's not that the nonsense nowadays where...

China gives Microsoft twenty days to respond to antitrust

Am I the only one that thinks that the reason China is going all ape poop with Microsoft is because they want details of how they build Windows so they can make their crappy Chinese Linux distro?....
