Solved Can one ethernet port be split to 2 devices?

What you need is not a new router [sounds that is what you are originally talking about] but a switch. For example, my router has one out port but I have several devices that I use a cable for so I use a switch at the end of my router.

4 advantages Windows 8.1 has over Android in mobile

There is a difference between versions here. It's like comparing a tablet to a desktop and then saying that the tablet sucks

Are Win 8 Desktops 8.1 compatible........

Since I avoid all of the metro crap, I didn't see too many changes. My wife did have some issues with an older accounting software but I found work arounds for most. Sure, I have complained plenty about some of the stupid things with windows 8 and 2012 but the advantages outweigh the negatives...

4 advantages Windows 8.1 has over Android in mobile

Even though there are anti-virus software for the Android, I have yet to hear from anyone who has found a virus on their phone. Sort of like there is a such thing as anti virus for Mac and Linux but not many viruses. Pretty much the only way you can get a virus on android is to root it, allow...

    McAffee vs Norton Internet Security

Well, could you install less than defender? It comes along with the ride

Are Win 8 Desktops 8.1 compatible........

The only way to be sure is to read your crash dumps to see what the issue is

    McAffee vs Norton Internet Security

Just use the defender from Microsoft. It's free, does a good enough job and uses a LOT less resources. But the biggest thing is just don't do anything stupid like blindly clicking you're brains out. I haven't seen a virus on a machine of mine for over a decade using either no anti-virus or the...

WinRT is ARM and has nothing to do with modern UI

Who’s Going to Stop Windows 7? Not Windows 8.1, ...

There are reasons for that. Every time I move to the newest OS, I find that something won't work correctly with the newest version. One example would be when I built up a new computer for my wife to use at work. Quick books is something she uses all the time and it worked perfectly with windows...

Microsoft may bring back full start menu with 8.2

But then again, my wife loves using modern UI apps on her surface. It just works better for devices that assume that you will be holding them in your hands such as a phone or tablet but for her desktop as well as all desktops that I set up for her at her work, she insists on a start button

Microsoft may bring back full start menu with 8.2

Just a note, this is a problem for Windows 8, windows 8. 1, windows 2012, windows 2012RT. It just creates more work for me to get around. Put in a start button/menu, bypass what was formerly known as metro (why in all that is good did Microsoft install that stupid crap on the servers?!) and you...

Microsoft may bring back full start menu with 8.2

This is something that I have done at least a 100 times now with the same results (use to be a college professor and did many, many installs for students). Install SQL 2008R2, install VS 2010. Do a search for visual studio. You get zero return. Why? SQL 2008R2 installs the shell for VS 2010 and...

Microsoft may bring back full start menu with 8.2

Having two different versions of SQL server will mess up the searches. Installing SQL server and then the full version of VS 2010 will make searching for VS impossible. Having three different versions of VS (2008, 2010, 2012). Trying to find that program that you know where it is but can't...

Microsoft may bring back full start menu with 8.2

I really hope the do bring it back. My wife had a surface (her Christmas present from me) and I don't miss the start button /menu on that. It kind of just works for a device that size but on my desktop and laptop, I use start 8/classic shell all of the time. There is just too many things that...

Windows 8.1 RTM Released to MSDN & Technet

Just finished upgrading from 8 to 8.1 keeping all of my apps. It even kept my Start8 but I haven't checked my Hyper-V clients yet.

How did you setup your Win 8 install?

Ok, I couldn't vote because I have set it up different ways - both virtually and as my main OS on my laptop [desktop is still Windows 7].

Windows 8.1 Start button may not offer actual Start menu

And sending everything to 'the cloud' isn't corporate friendly and has no place in the work place.
