    Should I upgrade from 8 to 8.1?

    Since i am not able to launch the store (nagging there is no internet connection..) and no other obvious way to update, I am happy now Microsoft screwed the upgrade process to 8.1 up. Thanks for clarifying. I can wait 2 years ;-)

    Hi Brink, thank you for your reply, but i tried allready all the suggestions except refresh/fresh install. This is not an option to me, since i upgraded and have tons of desktop applications, a lot of games with patches and so on.

    That's the solution for sfc /scannow errors! Just type in Administrator prompt: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Possible you have to run that 2 times, but if will quite sure fix the sfc /scannow errors. For me it did! Thread should be marked as solved.

    The 1.145.1483.0 seemed to be a faulty definition file. It even prevents Windows Defender from updating to 1.145.1490.0. Thats why the update has to be downloaded via Get the latest definitions - Microsoft Malware Protection Center and installed manually. I would expect Microsoft to fix this...
