Munich, Germany: Linux was disaster, back to Windows

Reminds me of that terrible idea to go with ipads for Califorinia. They also realized it too late.

Cortana integration in Windows 'Threshold' looking likely

What i'd like to see is a way for all the pc/phone/tablets to know when I say turn the volume down on my Xbox One, or play music on my phone, or when I say switch music play to Xbox.

Surface damage mounts at Microsoft as red ink reaches $1.7

MS is making a great point here. I appreciate the need to build and offer such a device because no one else has. It had to be done. Convertible clamshells had already been done by lots of oems. Often sub par with mediocre specs and just absurdly heavy and poor quality. It's an investment that...

Microsoft wants you to forget Windows 8

False. Windows 8.1 is the best. No need to speak for me. Thanks!

Six Clicks: Six ways Windows Phone is better than iPhone

I'm glad I have an option that doesn't just conform to trends. People don't bother with it is suppose to sway me to adjust my needs? I'm going for the best overall experience and ios doesn't fit my workflow and aesthetically just isn't appealing to me. I couldn't care less what people want. I...

Six Clicks: Six ways Windows Phone is better than iPhone

I like how I'm not constrained to a sea of icons on a smallish screen. One of the main reasons I left the platform. Second, the white on black with hints of color based on my theme preference is such an amazing, much more pleasant experience on my eyes than the blinding white ios forces upon...

Something "pretty amazing" coming to Windows Phone?

Yeah, I fail to see what axing this feature will do to help. If anything, WP needs every bit of innovation they can muster, just as Nadella said that people only respect innovation. Whatever the case, I'm sure they'll have something to offer in the high end come this fall. There has to be an...

Something "pretty amazing" coming to Windows Phone?

Looks like Barnacles, the senior MS engineer in the video is one of the 18,000 who got laid off. Sad to hear. Even worse for everyone wondering if WP would truly come out with something amazing. Looks like it won't happen now. At least not anytime soon.

Early Surface Pro 3 users struggle with wireless network

Buys MS device to run a horrible for touch browser from a competing platform and complains about it not working good in a WiFi issue thread. I think we aren't helping.

Early Surface Pro 3 users struggle with wireless network

I'm sorry you're having issues using Google's Chrome browser. I don't have a need for anything Google except Youtube. IE works fine and is much better at touch. However, I don't see how that has anything to do with wifi.

Early Surface Pro 3 users struggle with wireless network

I think you put that in the wrong thread. This is about wifi on SP3... which is working fine for me so far now.

Early Surface Pro 3 users struggle with wireless network

Just updated. Not noticing any difference at work. I've never had a blue screen. I think this is an isolated issue due to some types of routers, but no problems so far.

    Firefox web browser popularity wanes

As FF was my previous main browser before IE11, I find it less and less useful everyday. I use it for one site that won't work in Modern IE and even then, I can use IE on desktop. The only reasons I am holding on to it is the Lastpass plugin convenience and a dark theme. I can switch to just...

Early Surface Pro 3 users struggle with wireless network

Yeah, I forgot to mention my work requires access to accept terms through the browser. I believe this to be the primary issue as I don't have any at home.

The Desktop will be going away in Threshold...kind of.

That's what it sounds like to me. The newly redesigned start menu would be like W7. On tablets/phones, the start menu makes up the whole start screen. Windowed apps on the desktop would default to full screen on tablet/phone. So you'd have a unified, copy of the start menu on every device. It'd...

The Desktop will be going away in Threshold...kind of.

My guess is it's going to be like MJF stated, whereas the start would be 7-like on pc's with the option to use the start from 8.x, and on tablets it will always be start menu. Same on phones too, now that there's a file explorer. If windowed apps are coming, I see them being always full screen...

Early Surface Pro 3 users struggle with wireless network

Now, I have had some experiences with limited WiFi on my Dell Venue 8 Pro and Surface Pro 3 at work. Usually after a period of no use. It looks like it's an issue. I thought it was just my work WiFi going down.

Windows 'Threshold': More on plan to win over Windows 7...

My understanding is they are now one group under Terry Myerson. It wasn't this way before the restructuring. I'm sure we can expect a bit more consistency moving forward, but ain't going to happen overnight.

Read more at: Something "pretty amazing" is coming to Windows Phone | WMPoweruser https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUQmzYrJ1tg I wonder and I can't wait. Hopefully he's referring to the unified WP/RT and the 3D touch we've been hearing about, with Touch Office and inking with SP3's same pen...
