If you are willing to spend a little more, the Acer Iconia W700 seems to be the best available Windows 8 Tablet. It's the fastest and longest lasting. Newer ones come with a case that holds the keyboard. Amazon has the cheapest one close to $700 USD.

RT tablets have potential, but with their current lack of apps, I'd say get a Windows 8 tablet instead.

The Acer W700 comes with a flip case that props up the tablet. I either rest it on a table, on my lap, or next to me on the couch.

If the actual batter life of the Surface Pro is only 4 hours, I may stick with the Acer W700. I get almost 6 hours with it.

I have the RT and plan to sell it to get the Pro. Holding the RT in portrait feels ok, although I rarely hold it that way. I also have the Acer W700 which is 11.6". I wish Surface Pro was 11.6"...
