Ok, I'll try that. By the way, the problem did indeed go away as long as the Network List service was off. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, the service starts manually as needed, so this is a temporary fix and not a solution. I keep trying to think of what might be related to that service...

Ok, yes, I searched and turned up 8 instances of autorun.inf and used a text editor to read the entries. None of them appears to contain launch information for either the default browser or the bing search page. Still looking into this... armlabes
