Found a solution. Apparently, what I found was that I also couldn't open Camtasia Studio. Fortunately, while going through my settings, I found "Restore to factory settings" and that's what worked for me. HippsieGypsie, I tried what you did and I kept receiving error messages while it was scanning.

So, I am on my new Windows 8 computer. I tried to install both Apple iTunes and Adobe Flash Player. Both of the installers show in my task manager, however they NEVER open!! I'm getting really annoyed by this. I'm able to install things like FireFox and Google Chrome. I don't know what to do...
