Solved In Safe Mode, msconfig won't allow normal startup

After about 10 reboots, I just rebooted into Normal mode, even though I had received the above error message when I checked the box for normal bootup. Thus, the problem went away. I will now be very reluctant to use Safe Mode in Windows 8.1.

Solved In Safe Mode, msconfig won't allow normal startup

I'm running Windows 8.1x64. I booted to safe mode today by changing the boot options in msconfig.exe. Now, msconfig won't let me change back to Normal startup, and I'm stuck in safe mode. When I check the Normal Startup box under the General Tab in msconfig and hit OK, I receive this message...

Solved Epson Scan software not working properly in Windows 8.1

My Epson V300 scanner was working perfectly in Windows 8x64 and before that Vista SP2x64 and Windows 7x64. After upgrading to Windows 8.1, it still functions, but I can't get into the Epson Scan software. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software (latest version), with no improvement. If I...

I found the solution here: resolution - Fonts in some programs look blurry on a 1920x1080 IPS monitor in Windows 8 - Super User "Screen Resolution"/"Make text and other items larger or smaller"/"Custom sizing options"/"Use Windows XP scaling" After turning on Windows XP Scaling, the...

Solved Fuzzy Appearance of Open Office, Adobe, etc.

I have tried two different graphics cards, a Matrox and an Asus nVidia, and have exactly the same problem with each. The programs that display poorly apparently display in a lower res, probably 1028x764, instead of the 1920x1200 in which Windows and the properly behaving programs display.

Solved Fuzzy Appearance of Open Office, Adobe, etc.

All programs displayed fine in Windows 7, but after doing a clean install of Windows 8, many non-Microsoft programs including Open Office, Adobe Acrobat, iTunes, Photocopier Pro, Epson Scan, dBPoweramp, Exact Audio Copy & Xenu are very blurry. It's not just text input in the programs, but the...

    System Reserved on Wrong Drive

I ran diskpart and set the hard drive to inactive. From the diskpart list, I noticed that drive letter D: had been assigned to a DVD drive, so I reset the drive letters in Disk Management. I also deleted the volume name "System Reserved" from the hard drive from Properties in Disk Management...

    System Reserved on Wrong Drive

Thanks for the advice. I connected the SSD to the first SATA port. However, I was unable to make it Disk0 in the BIOS because I have an Asus Z77 motherboard that automates hard disk detection and does not show the storage drives in BIOS screens. I disconnected the hard drive, booted from the...

    System Reserved on Wrong Drive

When I installed Windows 8, it recognized a hard drive as Disk 0 and my SSD as Disk 1. I didn't know that it was important to put the system files on Disk 0, with the System Reserved partition, and installed Windows on the SSD. After installation, I saw that the hard drive had a System Reserved...
