Solved KB2919355 installed on 3/18/2014? How is that possible?

So my boss brought his laptop up for me to update for him. First thing was to update the apps, then go from 8 to 8.1. Did that with no hassle. Started checking MS update for 8.1.1 update (KB2919355) and it kept showing up to date, so I looked in "Installed Updates" to make sure I had KB2919442...

Microsoft is bringing the Start Menu back

That was my thread. I was able to change some but not all of the tiles and eventually just got frustrated with the whole proccess. Not to mention once you change the system tiles (weather, mail, etc) you lose the live tile. Just a frustrating mess that would have been easy to keep if MS so...

Microsoft Officially Lowers System Requirements in Windows

I am running 8.1 on my little Acer Aspire one with 2GB Ram and an Atom N450 1.66GHz. Runs pretty damn good actually. Still frustrates me that I can't change the tile color easily though....... But all in all it actually runs pretty fast on this little thing. I had to use a registry hack to get...

Why Have Most Windows 8 Users Not Upgraded to Windows 8.1?

Basically you will boot from the jump drive. everything Linux runs from it, just make sure to make a persistent partition on the jump drive and it will keep the changes you make. When you want to use windows, just tell linux to reboot, remove the jump drive and reboot as you normally do :) Geeve

Why Have Most Windows 8 Users Not Upgraded to Windows 8.1?

Wynona, you can use a thumb drive to boot linux from without touching any of the files or settings on you PC. It would run "Live" From the USB thumb drive. might be worth just checking out :) Geeve

Way to change tile color to all one color?

Thanks again! I was just playing with it. it is still going to be really time consuming vs just telling windows I want a specific color. but good find none the less, it gives me something to do at work today. Finding icons for some of the apps is going to be a challenge, but at least it gives me...

I have my background set on the start screen and have the accent color set to all grey. I was wondering if anyone has found a way to change the tile color to all one color, like grey, to match my background. Right now I have this really nice pic and it is over run with what looks like a unicorn...

Solved Connect Gmail to mail metro app without live ID?

Thanks again and great idea. I ended up doing something similar.... I set up a live ID then, chose sign into apps individually (not recommended) then went on my merry way. That way only that app is associated with the live ID and it left my local account alone. Man, what a total load of crap to...

Solved Connect Gmail to mail metro app without live ID?

Thanks! When I open it it requires a Live ID to even get going. I went through settings and tried to tell it not to require my ID on apps, but then all it wants is enterprise mail. Man MS screwed the pooch on that LOL Geeve

Solved Connect Gmail to mail metro app without live ID?

I went ahead and installed it anyway in the meantime. I am familiar with it because I use Linux daily and it is by far the best open source mail client out there :) It would be nice to have email count and such in the live tile, but not not nice enough to connect with my windows ID..... Geeve

Solved Connect Gmail to mail metro app without live ID?

Is there any way to connect my Gmail account to the Mail Metro App without having to use my Live ID? I have absolutely no desire to tie all my stuff to a MS Live ID. Just want to be able to check my mail. I have already installed Skype desktop to get around the Live ID crap for the metro...

Why Have Most Windows 8 Users Not Upgraded to Windows 8.1?

I have a little Acer Aspire One netbook I just put my copy of 8 on. I haven't gone to 8.1 yet for two reasons: 1) I keep reading you can lose your local account if you aren't real careful when setting it up, I have no desire to use the store, or connect my MS Live ID. I am content with a local...
