So my boss brought his laptop up for me to update for him. First thing was to update the apps, then go from 8 to 8.1. Did that with no hassle. Started checking MS update for 8.1.1 update (KB2919355) and it kept showing up to date, so I looked in "Installed Updates" to make sure I had KB2919442...

That was my thread. I was able to change some but not all of the tiles and eventually just got frustrated with the whole proccess. Not to mention once you change the system tiles (weather, mail, etc) you lose the live tile. Just a frustrating mess that would have been easy to keep if MS so...

Basically you will boot from the jump drive. everything Linux runs from it, just make sure to make a persistent partition on the jump drive and it will keep the changes you make. When you want to use windows, just tell linux to reboot, remove the jump drive and reboot as you normally do :) Geeve

Wynona, you can use a thumb drive to boot linux from without touching any of the files or settings on you PC. It would run "Live" From the USB thumb drive. might be worth just checking out :) Geeve

I have my background set on the start screen and have the accent color set to all grey. I was wondering if anyone has found a way to change the tile color to all one color, like grey, to match my background. Right now I have this really nice pic and it is over run with what looks like a unicorn...

Thanks again and great idea. I ended up doing something similar.... I set up a live ID then, chose sign into apps individually (not recommended) then went on my merry way. That way only that app is associated with the live ID and it left my local account alone. Man, what a total load of crap to...

Thanks! When I open it it requires a Live ID to even get going. I went through settings and tried to tell it not to require my ID on apps, but then all it wants is enterprise mail. Man MS screwed the pooch on that LOL Geeve

I went ahead and installed it anyway in the meantime. I am familiar with it because I use Linux daily and it is by far the best open source mail client out there :) It would be nice to have email count and such in the live tile, but not not nice enough to connect with my windows ID..... Geeve
