Ikounten, I had the same problem until now. My solution was: 1. Lauching device manager (WIN+R then typing devmgmt.msc into it or the other way you launch it) 2. Finding Unknown Device and getting its Device ID 3. Getting the driver and installing it 4. Rebooting PC In my case the unknown...

I highly recommend having a USB-flash drive at home. You will be always confident your data isn't lost. Well, in 99.9% of cases. :)

Okay then. I would do the following: 1. Download LiveCD, burn it to CD/DVD/USB 2. Download Windows 8, burn it to DVD/USB 3. Boot up using LiveCD 4. Insert your DVD/USB with Windows 8 and install. Is all this possible? If no we could try to find another solution.

To make sure I have clearly understood the situaton: you got a PC with new empty HDD and a fine-working laptop allowing you to download anything from the Net?

Greetings. Recently I've bought a notebook with pre-installed Windows 8 basic monolingual edition. Now I realise that I do need some Windows 8 Pro features like Hyper-V and EFS for my system administration trainings. :D How do I upgrade from basic to pro at the least cost? Thank you in advance.

Not sure, but I would say no.

As far as I know, 'Refresh your PC' option keeps your personal settings, document + music + pictures + videos folders and Metro applications. Any other programs would be deleted, so if you want to keep any of them you should make an image next time.

Hi, are there any comparsion tables of Windows Defender and any other AV product? Especially I am wondering about ESET NOD and Kaspersky. Also I am not sure in Windows Brandmauer's protection. Can I be advised to disable it and use other firewall instead? Thank you in advance.
