While you do have resources at hand, are you limited to just one Windows 8 system in preparing the SD card? Would another Widnows 8 system create the same problem? Only then might we consider Windows 8 possibly culpable, introducing something abnormal to the process.

Following up on Miles' response, I would use another image viewer to see if it's the fault of the picture. XNView is a free image viewer. There are others.

Think back on when this entry began appearing with frequency if hardware drivers installation or update had been done. My guess is the process left a 'snag'. If the driver is identified, then an uninstall and clean install of the latest might do the trick.
