    Bing Causing IE11 to hang

I had my IE11 startup page to be the Bing homepage. This causes IE to hang as Bing apparently is not computable with IE11. I had to change my startup page to something else to get IE11 to start.

Applications start faster from Metro IU than from IE

Sorry for the confusion. I did mean web pages. An example of what I mean is accessing this form. I tried accessing it thru IE from the desktop. IE just hung with the message that if was waiting for the site. I then went back to the Metro IU, with the IE desktop program running in the background...

Applications start faster from Metro IU than from IE

I have noticed that applications that are launched from the Metro IU load and run much faster than the same applications launched from IE under desktop. Anyone else noticed this? I have even created Metro tiles for applications I normally run as they load and run much faster than launching them...

    Very slow after booting

I had this problem. Are you shutting down your system completely or placing it in hibernate mode? If you're placing it in hibernation then switch to shutting it down and rebooting it cold. I found this fixed my problem.

    stops responding

I ran Windows 7 on my computer prior to the upgrade. I ran the upgrade assistant prior to upgrading. No problems were found. I've tried running sfc and performing a system restore, all without fixing the problem. I've noticed that when applications won't start if I check for them in Task Manager...

Solved Don't update to Windows 8 at this time

I found that by rebooting my PC every day the problems I originally stated went away. For those of you who think I'm some novice, I have used every version of Windows but Windows ME so I think I'm fairly competent to state problems I've encountered.

Solved Don't update to Windows 8 at this time

I upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro and have had nothing but problems ever since. Programs that ran fine under Win 7 won't even load under Win 8. Programs like Internet Explorer won't load and even when you get it to load you will have multiple instances of it running. Windows Live Mail...

    stops responding

I have the same problem. The only way I found to correct it is to reboot the system. I can't find any indicator as to when or why this happens. I normally install a new operating system 6 months after it comes out so Microsoft can fix some the bugs all new operating systems have. Disregarding...

Windows 8 uncertainty blamed for decline in PC sales

Because I use my PC for bill paying, banking, etc I was thinking about buying a second low level PC as a backup system but I find I can access my most important web applications on my smartphone which I now use as my backup 'system'. I actually use it when I'm out of town.

Windows 8 uncertainty blamed for decline in PC sales

I had my HP desktop for over 5 years and only replaced it when the power supply went out. As I use my PC for just about everything I was leery of spending ~$100 for a new power supply and fearing my hard drive would crash, which happened to the PC I had before the HP. My new PC came with Windows...

Performance Problems after system running for two or more

System is a Gateway with 4GB of memory running Win 8 Pro. System is placed in hibernation daily. After two days the system performance degrades to the point of making the system unusable. Applications will take 5 minutes to load, even Internet Explorer. Network performance degrades. Task...
