try dual booting windows 7 with your current windows 8.1 and try connecting (in windows 7) if this did nothing that means this is a hardware problem

I know what do you feel . . . the only thing I tried is dual booting windows 7 with windows 8 but before doing this create recovery drive using AOMEI onekey recovery this will install image on partition when SEIROUS error occurs while booting recover it

thid maybe a bad sector in your hard disk or the files in the system maybe curropted I recommend re-installing windows if you don't have CD or USB download windows image once download is finished download WinNT setup and follow the instroctions

I tried to merge unallocated space with E: partition and it failed to assign drive letter so i tried to extend the E: partition from disk managment and it Worked!!! thank you
