So....I think the answer to my question is, yes, a Windows running in a VM does need a license.

Andy, do you tell people you install for there is a choice? If they could see both version your results may be the reverse of what you've had. People who need someone to do an install for them may be thinking, oh well, that's just the way it is.

I suppose this is why it is the most used OS in the world. Unless you are only referring to W8 There are many delusional "intelligent" types who have been predicting the demise of the PC. I, for one, don't consider a tablet or fancy "smart" phone to be a computer. They try but fall way short.

It appears M$ wants me to use Metro no matter how crappy it is on a desktop. I still think there are far more desktop users than legions of people who are constantly on a mobile device of some sort. If the trend continues, hello Mac!
