Solved DISM /Cleanup-Image - DISM Failed - What To Do Next Please

All fixed but not by using the DVD as source. I ran the DISM tool and pointed it at the optical drive. The drive was accessed and the program ran for 20 odd minutes. It finished by reporting this: "ERROR:0x800f081f. The source files could not be found, use the source option to specify the...

Solved DISM /Cleanup-Image - DISM Failed - What To Do Next Please

I obtained a ISO last night of Win 8.1 Pro x64 and when I mounted it, there was "install.wim" and no ESD files were found when I ran a search on it. Both our Laptops have Windows OEM on them. It was with some difficulty that I found a ISO that had not been "played around" with. I intend to burn...

Solved DISM /Cleanup-Image - DISM Failed - What To Do Next Please

Solved DISM /Cleanup-Image - DISM Failed - What To Do Next Please

Thanks popeye. Side By Side Folder sounds like the way to go. Do I point the repair tool at the Windows 8.1 installation DVD? If so, do I need to point it to a specific folder on the DVD or does the repair tool find the files it needs from the DVD, without any help from me?

Solved Windows 8 Pro license transfer a new Windows 8.1 computer?

An update: Not as smooth as I thought. After doing the above, when I found that Windows was not activated & went to activate, a message said that the key was already in use. I phoned Microsoft & it took 40 minutes before a new key was entered and activated OK. At first, the Microsoft operator...

Solved Windows 8 Pro license transfer a new Windows 8.1 computer?

I bought a Toshiba P50t laptop with 8.1 Core pre-installed. I had an 8.0 Pro key which I had bought 17 months ago. Following theog post #14, my key was accepted and it upgraded the P50t to 8.1 Pro. I was a bit surprised it did as I had used that key on another Toshiba P840 laptop, with 8.0 Core...

Solved Updating to Windows 8.1 MAY DESTROY your computer!!!

Thanks for letting us know that the restore did not work for you. What is the other problem that you mention? I Have used Acronis True Image & found that I had to go into the BIOS and do some fiddling there before I could restore with Acronis. I will try the Macrium.

@ExperiencedUser Followed your instructions to enlarge the partition & the backup succeeded. Many thanks. Now, I won't know until I need to restore from the image, if it indeed will restore with no problems. Time will tell.
