Optimize Drives Schedule - Change in Windows 8

Maybe it has been fixed. I checked my log via powershell and didn't show my ssd being defragged, I have had the SSD for a year. It only showed an error when I tried to optimize System Reserve partition. I think I will just create a schedule to TRIM in Task Scheduler for now.

Optimize Drives Schedule - Change in Windows 8

In regards to your warning about the bug possibly defragging instead of TRIMming...I think the system does not defrag SSDs, it seems it does nothing when set to auto, as seen in the dates of my snippet, the HDD is defragged automatically on a schedule but the SSD partitions are not touched even...

    Laptop Restarts after sleep

Well everything is going well so far with the HIPM+DIPM registry tweak so I think I will keep Fast Startup enabled as the PC is starting up lightning fast with it enabled. But thank you I will keep it in mind for future reference if problems should arise.:thumb:

    Laptop Restarts after sleep

Any idea why this is happening? Happened waking computer from sleep for you Shaun, right? And it happened to me from after a shutdown, which technically is not a full shut down on windows 8/8.1? It is a kind of hibernate, correct?

    Laptop Restarts after sleep

Saved the day once again Brink Wow! Once again I can't thank you enough, I was having an issue where I just did a clean install Win8.1 pro on a Sandisk ultra Plus SSD in the main slot for my gf's laptop and put the old hdd in the cd-rom slot using a sata caddy, but it would crash at the...

Microsoft may bring back full start menu with 8.2

People still use desktops? I switched to a laptop long ago. I'll never go back, built a water cooled system but now I rather invest the money in a laptop and sacrifice a bit of quality in the graphics settings, I game all the time wherever I want! My point is I can see why some Desktop users are...

Have you ever heard of desktop short cuts? Or Task bar? Really now! My point exactly. The old menu is obsolete.

Notifications - Change Stay Open Time in Windows 8

Thank you so much. I had been looking all over the registry for a way to make the notifications stay until I click them. I set it to 86,400 seconds, lol! Now I am sure not to miss any mail notifications. Hopefully in the future Ill be able to set it back to a few seconds if windows 8.2 enables...

Solved Change default email to Gmail on Windows Mail.

Ok I was able to replicate the problem, I ended the task in task manager and sure enough it opened to my live account first. But this makes sense since it is the windows account and it is a windows app. They should add an option as to which is shown when the app is opened. But it does remember...

Solved Change default email to Gmail on Windows Mail.

Can't you just click on the plus sign to write a new message, then "more" to choose your from address in Windows mail? Sorry I cant replicate your problem, it remembers the last account I was viewing and sends from that account, maybe its different for you but for me it works fine. In my opinion...

    Bluetooth crashes on Win 8.1

And I don't know if this helps but Ill share my experience with you. I had an Iomega 3.0 Bluetooth adapter and must say it worked but had problems, sometimes wouldn't reconnect I would have to pair another PC with the particular device, speakers for example, then uninstall the driver for that...

Microsoft may bring back full start menu with 8.2

Please dont bring it back. I dont miss it one bit. I dont see any advantage. I have MyPC pinned to the taskbar and in one click I am where I want to be. When I use a windows 7 machine I am lost. Old windows: 1. start, 2. all programs, 3. click the program if youre luck, 4. possible click to the...

Which Web Browser Is Best Under Windows 8?

Tried IE11. After being a Chrome user and a previous ff user I had decided to give ie11 a go. I only use 1 extension, and the particular extension(has a stop sign as its emblem) was absolute crap on ie11, after 2 days of very hard work tweaking my settings and playing around with 32 and 64bit...

Solved homegroup and no access to files

Hello I deleted everything in the peernetworking folder and have successfully created a Homegroup. However call me crazy but I dont remember ever having a Desktop Icon in the homegroup. I cannot remove it. It is on both PCs that I have on the homegroup but is only visible to the actual user not...

Windows Defender Scheduled Scan - Set Up in Windows 8

Ok. Thanks, I figured that it had something to do with the task being user created versus being created by system maintenance. Happy to have 2 reliable tasks now, and not depending on Maintenance, which I don't think I have ever seen complete its job besides when running it manually.:D

Windows Defender Scheduled Scan - Set Up in Windows 8

Thanks for the reply. Okay weird...I created a new task called Windows Defender Scheduled Full Scan and left the default task with the quick setting. The quick one shows in the action center icon normally as well as in Defender itself, you can see what it's doing. But the Full scan one doesn't...
