A question about downloading a Windows 8.1 iso using the media creation tool. Is the content of the iso kept up to date with all the latest Windows Updates? I already have an older DVD with Windows 8.1, but using it to do a new clean install requires installing over a Gb of Windows Updates. So...

Just curious, but would this command work if I mounted a W 8.1 system image and substituted the assigned drive letter in place of "X"?

Personally, I quite like Windows 8, especially 8.1 with update 1 and don't want to "forget about it". I will check out the Windows 9 consumer release, but unless it really has additional features that I really like, I will be more than happy to stay with Windows 8.

Hi HG. I don't know if its a browser specific problem or not. Maybe if I was running IE as my main browser the same thing would happen. I might just try and see what happens. BTW it also happens with Windows 7 as well. I have 7 and 8 installed on separate SSD's and alternate between them.

You maybe right. If corporate profits are suffering because of it, that is what will determine Microsoft's future course. It will be interesting to see how it all develops. Windows 8 may not be popular with a lot of desktop purists, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good OS and I personally enjoy...

I am not sure what you mean by this. I have been running Windows 8 and 8.1 with a mouse and keyboard on a PC since 8 first came out. Sure, it is designed to run on touch screen devices as well, but that doesn't mean it can't be run with a mouse and keyboard.

Win 7 Games to Win 8 If you have a DVD with Windows 7 you can follow the instructions in post #3 to import games into Windows 8. This is how I did it when 8 first came out.

How about e-mail? I like it because I can read and/or reply at my leisure. Unlike the phone where it always rings at the most inopportune times. :D

Personally I don't see Windows 8 as a failure at all. Since I prefer a traditional desktop environment I added Classic Shell, but all in all, 8 has always run very well on my PC and I have never regretted the $40 US I paid for 8 Pro when it first came out.

No, at least not for me. I can still pull an app down to the bottom of the screen to close it, rather than clicking in the "X".
