i could be working on different things in different folder each time and when explorer crash and restart it'll lose everything. hibernation isn't a fix because I would be working, not hibernating my machine.
Currently I have options to boot up window and it will save my session from prior shutting down, but loses all the running program and progress.
where as restarting explorer.exe is the opposite, it keeps all the running program (as it should they are not part of explorer) but all the folder...
thanks for finding this, the nir soft looks incredibly useful is probably just what I need. my ccleaner looks different from yours, its probably because mine is a very very old version. all I know was (same as yours) I have to uncheck "other explorer MRUs" under window explorer section...
so window's MRUs (most recent used) contain a bunch of stuff and normally I am okay with cleaning it but there is this one particular setting I need not cleaned by ccleaner. problem is, ccleaner shows no cleaning MRU section but infact it does clean it (probably not via file deletion instead...
does anyone know what this is and how to go about fixing it? this comes up very rarely its almost always not a problem and been like this for 2+ years i thought i should just ask. thanks!
some details, this only happens on boot and I have a bunch of tasks, software to startup on boot as well...
edit: all figured out. searched up dim after, turn off terms bring up inside registry and what i find is changing registry actually doesnt help, either that or im mostly on wrong section (likely the restore power plan section)
the window 10 page worked.
"powercfg /SETACVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT...
in windows 10 forum "Change Turn off Display after Time in Windows 10"
theres the option 4 im looking for because it allows display to go dark after idle in seconds instead of minimum 1 minute in the power plan (power plan doesn't have seconds).
I tried looking for in registry or AC related...
wow man this is an awesome software way better than win10. wish i had known this from beginning. this would make editing reg/searching it up so much easier.
in Windows 10, it has a neat feature to add address bar which is different from windows 8's path bar in regedit.exe
windows 8 shows you the path but thats it, it doesn't let you copy/paste to jump quickly to another reg path/key but windows 10 does.
I tried copy the regedit.exe from windows 10...
I am using windows firewall to block internet access for a few specific software (chrome an example to prevent auto update) but it's causing BSOD while using internet (both LAN and wifi). steam online gaming would BSOD from time to time (dota2) as well.
for firewall i'd allow all the software...

i fully aware of what you're trying to say with background tasks and all, read my post again you'll see that "i do it moderately" and i know MS probably purposely doing it to consumer doesn't get their OS boggle down or ruin their PC. I can hit over 80C with 6 queue depth file copy with robocopy...
this is kinda broad but hoping some experts would chime in and give advice.
I have been using window since 2k and what I notice is that window OS itself MOST application within windows by MS isn't multi threaded in disk/cpu process. some software like robocopy or richcopy which both were...
ty for quick respond, this is changing priority though but not changing affinity during a process, is it possible to change to different affinity while a process is already running without task manager and just use of a shortcut or CMD line?
hey Brink sory bringing up back an old thread. the shortcut works great for launching application rather than launch application -> task manager -> manually change affinity.
however, what if say I wish to change affinity while a software/program already launched is there anyway to use a...
