Intel didn't certify drivers for these cards on 2012 or W8 and I'm not interested in buying new NICs (at enterprise/server grade prices) for a development environment.
Has anyone gotten them to work properly?
I also have a bunch of MT NICs as well but those are really old so I'm not worried...
Error on install: A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB or Hard disk driver. If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now.
Note: If the installation media for Windows is in the DVD drive or on a USB drive you can safely...
I don't have W8 as a dropdown on my ESXi menu and I'm getting a lot of bugs and issues to the point that I can't even install the RP as a VM.
Seems that everyone is able to run W8 on some flavor of a free hypervisor but I'm striking out finding info on ESXi. I've been able to get it working on...
I'm using W8 on the machine I have hooked up to my TV. I like the look and feel of W8 a lot (on a big flat screen TV) but I'm having some n00b issues and I can't seem to Google or search to find the answers.
For example, I have a NAS with movies and when I open more than one movie at a time...
I hate to bump this thing from such a long time ago. I just bought 7 Gateway SX2855 machines. They are i3 boxes. I can't for the life of me get W8 RP (32 or 64) to install via USB using
YUMI - Multiboot USB Creator (Windows) | USB Pen Drive Linux
I have zero problems using that Multiboot USB...
I've performed these steps (which are a royal pain, I had to manually re-write most of my config files) and I still can't get it to work properly - W8 32 & 64 or Server-8 - nothing works!! :(
I have a machine that's maxed out on SATA power connectors (there are only 8 and all 8 are used). I have a few other things coming out of my PSU (like auxiliary power cables for video cards, spare fans, etc.). I also have a 4-wire Molex/PATA (the white plugs) power connector that's unused...
Because as of now you can strip down W8 so it looks identical to W7 - and for me it's a nice (free) way to give clients a demo/trial of a VM without running into any licensing or activation issues. A new version (W9 or whatever) means a new headache with drivers, etc. That's all, just curious.
if you install Hyper-V first you can then install Workstation but not the other way around. you just can't run multiple HV's at the same time (i think).
After 3 weeks of asking on the Dell community forums I've gotten a private message from a forum moderator or dell engineer - not sure which. He says he has forwarded my info along to someone and they will be in touch soon (this is as of 1/3/2012 @ 18:00 EST). Sorry to not be of any more help but...
Unfortunately the only machines I have are all dual-Xeon. At this point I only have one dual x5482 machine and the rest are all dual w5580 or x5680 CPUs - not a bad thing in my eyes... Just frustrating to have no install alternatives.
Well it still hangs at the WDP screen - either when I press F8 it hangs but says "Preparing Options" at the bottom - or if I don't press F8 the "Preparing Options" isn't there but it hangs at the same place.
Any ideas?
Has anyone installed W8 DP on an Intel 5520 chipset or on a server...
ok time to start offering beer $$ or trading parts/hardware for advice & help...
Stuck on that darn WDP screen...
I have such a love/hate relationship with Dell...
just found out that I busted my butt putting together a proposal for a debt collection company that has a track record of not paying... great to know that was 3 days lost
