Have you run the Windows Update repair batch script (attached) from an Administrative Command Prompt? I have found that it often has to be run twice. You mentioned that you ran DISM, but did you run it with the RestoreHealth option?
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
I know how...
I could find nothing in addition to what I had already tried listed above despite days of online research. Finally, I decided to restore my computer to a Windows backup image I created with Macrium Reflect that I knew had a working Windows Update component.
I am running Windows 8.1 Pro (64) and keep getting this error. I have tried virtually everything including troubleshooters, the Windows Update repair bat, DISM /online /cleanup-image/restorehealth, SFC /scannow, Reset-WindowsUpdate.ps1 script, deleted the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder...
I found a suggestion to run the following for Error: 0x800f0906 from an Admin command prompt.

cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution

net start wuauserv
net stop bits

I tried the suggestions from the thread "DISM Source files could not be found when trying to restore" (Last post 10 Feb 2016) with the following unsuccessful results:

I recently noticed that Event Viewer shows a warning that "The driver \Driver\VSMMP failed to load for the device ROOT\VSM_MP\0000. Device Manager shows a yellow triangle for MS Hyper-V Network Switch Default Miniport. Clicking on it shows error 39.
I have tried to uninstall it in order to...
After cleaning up some unwanted updates re Win 10, the check marks were restored and, after checking installed updates in Control Panel, I realized that I had no choice but to install all the Security and necessary important updates.
I just repaired Windows 8.1 Pro (64bit) following the instructions in "How to Repair Install Windows 8 and 8.1 without Losing Anything". I did this because I kept getting DISM Error: 0x800f0906 ('The source file could not be downloaded') despite trying all the suggested solutions I could find...
Thanks. Dunno if it was the right thing to do but, after uninstalling KB3035583 and still seeing the popup, I deleted the GWX folder in Task Scheduler and that eliminated the problem.
I am running Windows 8.1 Pro (32bit). I want to get rid of Windows 10 notifications. I have selected 'Hide icon and notifications' in customize and I have uninstalled update KB3035583. However, I am still getting a popup on the screen for Windows 10. I find this very annoying and want to get rid...
I have the same problem. In addition, the last letter of a search topic is truncated. I tried using changing the default search engine and using "g" for Google to see if that would solve the problem, but it makes things worse. If I type g followed by a space and my search topic, when I hit enter...
I don't know what happened, but the following is my experience after installing the latest version of Classic Shell. After switching the selected Start button from "Aero" to "Classic" or "Custom", I cannot return to Aero. The dot is filled in but the logo doesn't appear. I didn't add any custom...
Shift+click Stopped Working
I have run Classic Shell Repair again and this time it corrected the problem. I ran Ace Utilities Registry Cleaner before trying Repair again, and this might have had something to do with it.
In any case, thank you for your assistance. Classic Shell has really made...

I don't mean to post duplicate threads, but I am a newbie to this Board and didn't notice this section before I posted in General Support.
For some unknown reason, after cancelling the start of an App on the Windows Start Screen, the Shift+click function in Classic...
