Thank you, Mike! I posted there & would appreciate continuing the conversation there. My first post has been altered to include some of the info you gave me.
Thanks again! :)

New, custom work desktop (light gaming) | PC Help Forum
Hi, folks.
Can anyone recommend a forum that I can go to for advice about custom built PCs?
I am looking to build (or have built for me) a new desktop for work. I mostly use Adobe Creative Suite for...
print design
web site content creation
video editing
etc
I'm not a gamer...
They may not be responding because this thread is marked 'solved.' All I can say is that it was worthwhile TO ME to wipe C: and reload Windows using the ISO mentioned by others. I had to get it from The Pirate Bay.
In case anyone here does respond ... are we allowed to share links to...
Thanks so much guys. I will go through this info and proceed accordingly. I appreciate your help!
I pulled a lower back muscle severely at a family member's house -- not sure when I will get back to my place where my PC is. But, I'll be ready once I get there. Thanks again!
Thank you, Maximus & genet! Since Max can't post details, I will go with genet's workflow.
I appreciate your insight & genet's detailed instructions! :)

I am running Win 8.1 Update 1 & want to wipe my C drive and re-install Windows.
I originally purchased Win 8 Pro...

Thank you, Brink!

No luck thus far. Updated NVIDIA drivers again -- the laptop screen still won't dim.

Well, this must be a Microsoft or NVIDIA thing that they need to fix. :) Even though I set the dim to 1 minute in both Balanced Mode & High Performance Mode, the laptop display is not...
Thank you for looking into it.
I always have my battery connected to the laptop. My screen has always been set to turn off at 10 minutes ... will disable that and see if the screen dims after 10 minutes -- I could live with that (while plugged in).
Update: ... nope ... the laptop screen...
Honeycomb is not alone. I came here because of the same issue; the dim option is gone (for some) in Win 8.1. I do hope that MS (or NVIDIA in my case) resolves the issue soon -- I liked the feature a lot.
I did not -- glad you had one.
I was running Win 8.1 Preview. MS told us that, if you run the preview, you will have to re-install your apps. I though "Apps" referred only to Windows Store apps, but it turns out all of my installed progs were gone after the update.
