thanks brink - i couldn't seem to find any link where microsoft (or anyone else) states bitlocker works fine/easily/completely on 8.1 UEFI systems without a TPM chip. do you have any such link(s)? either way, i'll give it a shot when my new usb thumbdrives arrive and let forum know how it goes.
