I have installed 8.1 on two machines. First one on my desktop as a VM, installed from iso disk. I installed this one from iso because at the time their was no UK English support, running it as a local account. I also installed onto my laptop yesterday from the store, no issues at this time and...

Using a local account on a vm 8.1. Will run for a while till update rtm. Is the update going to cost anything?

I tried installing from iso over my UK windows 8, BSOD. I was thinking of a clean install, but have got my Windows 8 running how I want it. I installed finally on a VM and it works fine , going to play around and see what its about. First impressions are favourable

I got preview installed and it crashed at last hurdle, restored my old settings. Will wait till things settle down :) Off to the Jaguar Forum, got some car maintenance to perform :)

Got download of 8.1 preview I have just got the preview to download. I did this with help of this article in MS forums " Hi all, I have a uk surface Rt and I can now get to the store and see the preview but the servers are being hammered at the moment so basically it is saying to come back...

Hi Dave44 did you change to en(Us) before downloading the update patch from MS?

Well I tried again this morning, after receiving an email saying 8.1 is ready. Subtle difference though on dl page it mentions having to have EN-US as base language. So I took off EN-UK and tried to install, still getting an error about not being applicable for computer. Anybody got 8.1 working...

Hi All I downloaded the program from the update site and and it wouldn't load on my UK windows 8 pro desktop or my laptop. Any thoughts? Gary

As with anything new, it takes time for people to get to grip with the concept. IMHO I think that despite of a few program issues (Which I am quite happy to play around with till they work) am quite happy with Windows 8.

Hi All Have I got to do a clean install to get to 8 Pro from Enterprise Evaluation, or is there a way to preserve my settings and installed programs? Thanks Gary

I have just loaded a release candidate of AVG 2013 and am part of their beta program. I had AVG 2012 running with no problems and 2013 looks ok as well. Early days in fairness though, but worth a try.
