    Hyper-V Virtual Switch Manager

Enabled the Hyper-V controller in Device Manager, still unable to create a virtual switch. Re-booted, no change. Disabled and then attempted to uninstall the Hyper-V controller, it remained. Rebooted, and retried, no difference. I am back at same point when I first posted in this thread...

    Hyper-V Virtual Switch Manager

I has one and an extra one that has Hyper-V in it's name the Hyper-V one says it is disabled (code 22). Would enabling or uninstalling the Hyper-V controller be called for?

Solved Will this work? (and how much work would it be?)

I won't actually receive the upgrade key until some time this week, so probably next weekend will upgrade.

Windows 10 vs. Windows 8.1 vs. Windows 7 Performance

I am not running 10 and have no access to Edge, but I agree about IE 11. For me, it would occasionally just decide to become unresponsive, and leave me with nothing but a spinning blue circle icon until I restarted or shutdown windows. That was enough for me to use Chrome exclusively as my...

Solved Will this work? (and how much work would it be?)

I am currently running 8.1 Core and want to use this windows 8 pro upgrade key to upgrade my windows installation. I have Windows 8.1 install disks, but not 8. Will this work? and does it matter if I intend to do a clean install or only an in-place upgrade? I have only ever installed OS's via...

Solved Added an account, how do I access already installed stuff?

nvmnd, stupid question. I copied all shortcuts from my original accounts user/desktop folder into new account's user/desktop folder. Pretty much everything works as before. For some reason, I thought there was more to it than that.

Solved Added an account, how do I access already installed stuff?

So far I have been signing into win 8.1 with my MS account, with Admin privileges. I just added a local account, with standard privileges. I only spent a few minutes in the new account, but I don't seem to have access to some stuff that was installed under my MS account - steam games for sure...

When my PC crashes, I have to disconnect my monitor

When I started this thread, I strongly suspected my GPU was the culprit, which is why I started the thread in the Graphic Cards sub-forum.My PC will not start up even with the GPU removed and the monitor connected to the motherboard, so I have no idea what the problem could be. Mods should feel...

When my PC crashes, I have to disconnect my monitor

Problem was not solved. It died earlier today and nothing I have attempted can get it to start up - case fans don't spin and there is no output to the monitor, but DVD writer spins up and HDD activity light comes on. I am currently using my old PC (was WinXP, now Linux) with all the same...

When my PC crashes, I have to disconnect my monitor

I got my computer case back from the tech shop. I have followed the tech's advice and didn't re-connect my external HDD - it is sitting in a closet right now. I loaded up and played Diablo3 for a few seconds, without issue. That is as adventurous as I am feeling right now, if the problem really...

When my PC crashes, I have to disconnect my monitor

follow up to this - after multiple more crashes, and disconnecting and re-connecting stuff prior to restarting, my PC quit working. It crashed and I was unable to get it running again. I took it to the same shop, they connected it and turned it on, and it booted as if nothing had ever been wrong...

When my PC crashes, I have to disconnect my monitor

It crashed earlier today twice, when I started Diablo 3 game. 1st time surprised me, 2nd time I was sort of expecting. I just swapped out my DVI cable for original VGA cable with DVI adapter, and both got video signal and was able to start up and play Diablo 3 a bit. Maybe issue was faulty DVI...

When my PC crashes, I have to disconnect my monitor

unfortunately no, although replacing the cable would be cheaper than replacing the GPU (which right now seem like the best suspects). The monitor came with a VGA cable and a VGA/DVI adapter, but I stopped using them when I lost video one day -I had ordered a DVI cable, and it was just sitting...

When my PC crashes, I have to disconnect my monitor

so far nothing that looks interesting, all kinds of logged events from 02/08/2015, not sure why that date is significant since I've had my PC since August 2014.

When my PC crashes, I have to disconnect my monitor

I ran DISM and Sfc /scannnow after getting it back from shop -DISM completed successfully, it has crashed since then.

When my PC crashes, I have to disconnect my monitor

... otherwise it will not boot. Of course, I reconnect it again before starting it up. I discovered this by trial and error, when my PC crashed and wouldn't work again (case fans wouldn't even spin), although the DVD writer would spin and the Hard Drive activity indicator would come on. I...
