Same issues: I had same issues and more. IE11 would not work properly and Windows Explorer would freeze - lots of generally strange behaviours. All back to normal. When I get a chance I'll see what's in the update in detail and decide if I need it. VooDoo

No Viruses/Malware/Rootkits etc. Same results as I had the first time - and I used some different tools too this time. Glad that bit helped. Not quite sure what problems may arise with it disabled though. :confused:

Hi, I get what you are saying.But can find nothing on the drive and it was a fresh format. ( never say never though ). So I will do it again and run the NETSTAT and see if its getting used when it shouldn't be. Thanks again for your input.

It was a fresh install on a formatted drive. However, I'll try anything,......I let it scan today with pile of tools. Zilch! Not a thing. Thanks for your help.

I have tried a new cable. It now shuts down with either end out router/computer and when I tried the old cable again, it now works same. Go figure. Still will not shut down as it should though. Thanks for your reply.

Hi bloodybold I have ran this before and the reports are always the same - basically nothing to stop it going into sleep. It also does not mention the Network card. Which I presume from the behaviour after I remove the cable is the culprit. Thanks

Hi XweAponX If I get this right, you mean the Power Options>"Put the Computer to Sleep" option. I have it set it to go to sleep - it won't. Thanks

Hi, Yes it's disabled. Thanks Edit to add: Once asleep it stays that way and if I get it to sleep by other means - PWR Button\Sleep Option in W 8.1, it stays sleeping.

Well I used a whole lot over the years. Windows 7 - Best for me by a fair bit since 2000 Windows 2000 - Stable and just got on with it. Windows 8 - Early days but quick and stable and growing on me. Taken some getting used to, but I now use it as main desktop.... with some changes and a lot of...

For me there will need to be a clear desktop version without the Metro start stuff; i voted Good except for.... based on my thoughts of using my main computer day in day out. Maybe it would work and feel better that i currently think it would. But it's early days. :-)
