No Pure 3.0 is fine but one of its driver is causing the crash, it could be due to conflicts or malware activity. Boot in safe mode with networking and run a scan of Malwarebytes. It should pick up that 'adware' that you mentioned above. If that doesn't fix try reinstalling Kaspersky Pure.

The obvious cause is your Kaspersky product, make sure that you're using the latest build, i.e version 2014 14.0.0.4651 (d). KAV/KIS 2014 without patch B are incompatible with Windows 8.1 nor are any of the older 2013 builds.
