I have a windows 7 home premium retail license and upgraded to windows 8 pro x64 using promotion discount. Now I want to use some 16 bit applications that won't work with windows 8 x64. So I want to install either windows 7 or windows 8 32 bits on another partition along with windows 8 x64...
I use startisback. It's not free but cost only a few bucks. Yet , this is a temporary solution. With windows 8.1 , microsoft gives us the ability to directly boot to desktop. I guess I will uninstall startisback after final release of windows 8.1 .
I think windows 8 will automaticaly enable defender after uninstalling mcafee.
I do use macrium and in my fairly old computer, macrium restore in ahci mode sometimes causes corrupted restore so I use ide mode for restore and then revert back to ahci mode after restore is finished.
No , I wanted it to enable or disable a local account on my computer but somehow I learned to enable or disable administrator account , which is a bonus for me .
I couldn't see any user listing on left panel for trying the solution on the link.
Thank you. It solved the issue and showed a new way to enable/disable administrator account.
This forum is great for getting answers and sharing on windows 8.
How ? I tried mmc command on start menu but it didn't work out from this suggestion Disable a user account
So is there a way to do it?
I mean temporarily disabling a user account not delete it.
My account has administrator rigths and I updated chrome in my account but my brother's account is no admin( he has power user priviliges but not admin ) so I cannot update chrome in his account.
I don't get any dialog box prompting me administrator password. An error message shows up just for a second then disappears.
Also, I didn't set up a password for built in administrator account. I just use my administrator account.
