How Big Does a SSD Need To Be For Windows 8.1?

I use an SSD for Windows and programs. A hard drive is used for documents, music and videos. The reason is that SSDs fail without warning and hard drives often give audible warnings that they will fail. This warning gives time to get another replacement drive. It still doesn't replace back-ups.

How Big Does a SSD Need To Be For Windows 8.1?

I think a 250 GB SSD is the sweet spot for Windows 8.1 plus most used programs.

    Solved Defrag on SSD

Never defrag a SSD! They use TRIM instead. Defragging a SSD shortens its life due to all the writes that occur when defragging.

A Disc lost inside my laptop?

You should be able to remove the DVD drive and then the disk will fall out the opening. See the below video on removing the DVD drive as it is normally one screw on the bottom of the laptop. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BDw26OCE8LI&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DBDw26OCE8LI

Turn off UAC for a certain program?

I added the backup operator group to my user account, but it makes no difference. On my administrator account, adding backup operator allows True Image to work flawlessly. If it is going to require me to log into the admin account, then what use is automatic backups? I might as well do it...

Turn off UAC for a certain program?

I am not sure if it would work as it is a setting within the program. If the setting is selected, it manages backups and it doesn't automatically if not. I am specifically talking about automatically deleting old backups too. It also needs admin approval to run, but I don't want the main account...

Turn off UAC for a certain program?

I have a backup program I want to run automatically every night. The problem is that it requires approval to run by the UAC. Is there anyway to allow one program to run without UAC intervention without disabling UAC for everything?

Office 2013 to be the last non subscription version

Not my Fortune 500 company. They do not upgrade very often due to cost and compatibility issues with proprietary software.

Office 2013 to be the last non subscription version

Think again on corporate. Most companies kept Windows XP until Windows 7. Heck, we are just now going to Windows 7. Companies were on Office 2003 for years and we just now upgraded to Office 2010. Companies use enterprise licenses, so if those went away companies would stick with the old. At...

Are SSDs the new RAM for boosting system performance?

I wouldn't put data on a SSD, because there are no failure warnings. I strictly use then for applications and windows.

Are SSDs the new RAM for boosting system performance?

The reason is because SSDs are faster than SATA II, meaning they are bottlenecked. That is why they seem slower on SATA II when compared to SATA III. Even with that, an SSD will blow away a spinner on a SATA II controller. The spinner doesn't come close to saturating a SATA II connection.
