Microsoft on Windows 8 Haters: We Could See This Coming

Well.. Some of my early complaints that I did not see raised all over, were addressed in the initial 8.1 release. For instance, I really disliked the fact that when installing apps in the original release, you would wind up with a shortcut on your start screen for ever piece that used to wind...

Microsoft on Windows 8 Haters: We Could See This Coming

"Larson-Green emphasized once again that the software company was more open to customer feedback, explaining that Microsoft’s staff is now reading basically every single detail about Windows 8 that reaches the web." And people wonder why I often try to post such detailed, critical posts...

I did.. one of the files would not delete though.. Perhaps there-in lies the problem. I will see if maybe booting it up in safe mode later will allow me to remove the other file.

Re-loaded Prim Homegroup computer, now can't create new HG

My problem isn't that I cannot leave the homegroup. Both machines in my network have left the homegroup. The problem is, that I cannot start a new homegroup, as the old one is still detected somehow. My only option from either machine, is to join the currently existing homegroup, and I cannot...

Re-loaded Prim Homegroup computer, now can't create new HG

I have been using the workgroup method and have been able to share files between computers, though it is not seemless. Still, at the moment, I am unable to share my printers. The option to share printer does not show up when I right click on them in device list and go to properties. Others...

Re-loaded Prim Homegroup computer, now can't create new HG

Both services are running and are set to automatic yes.. Neither machine is currently a part of the old home group. No machine should be a part of the old home group, as that machine was wiped clean and reloaded. My problem is that I cannot start a new homegroup. When I go into homegroup...

Re-loaded Prim Homegroup computer, now can't create new HG

So, I reloaded windows on my primary computer a few weeks back, and now, I am unable to recreate a homegroup in my given network. All machines have left the old homegroup, but the option to create a new one does not exist. Instead, on each machine left on the network, the only option avail for...

OMFG!! Reloaded windows yesterday!! Major activation woes!

Oh.. I am all backed up. I just finished reloading windows after all. I just can't believe I am doing it again. I could understand it if I was not a paying customer, but given that I am, I am pretty astonished that the best the folks could do for me was to tell me, sorry, you have to reload...

OMFG!! Reloaded windows yesterday!! Major activation woes!

I cannot believe this. I truly cannot believe this.. I had a virus on my machine about a week ago, which I foolishly got when installing Samsung kies software from a non-trusted source. I was in a hurry, on the phone with someone, and I just installed it using all defaults rather than being...

Google unseats Microsoft as the U.S. browser powerhouse

Also worth noting... They should just abandon pepper flash all together. Nothing good about it, tons of bad. I tried, but I could find no reliable way to completely disable pepper flash once and for all. It would always return a few days later. I looked all over the web for a lasting...

Google unseats Microsoft as the U.S. browser powerhouse

Yes... But that setting never sticks.. Eventually, pepper flash returns. Total PITA! Chrome and pepper flash = terrible.

Google unseats Microsoft as the U.S. browser powerhouse

I had to ditch chrome because pepper flash was killing me. Every flash video stuttered like crazy. I just could not deal with it any more.

Google unseats Microsoft as the U.S. browser powerhouse

I have come back to ie myself this past year, though I run it side by side with Firefox. I don't like shopping etc from same browser where I log into Facebook or gmail. Next thing you know, everywhere you go you get adds for the things you once searched for. Very annoying.

Start Menu will reportedly return to Windows 8.1 this fall

Start Menu will reportedly return to Windows 8.1 this fall

All apps is terrible hippie.. Are they in alphabetical order? Yes, but the start over again mid menu, so it literally goes A to Z 2x, which is just stupid. There is no rhyme or reason that I could discover regarding why an app would end up in the first group or the second. Finding anything...

Start Menu will reportedly return to Windows 8.1 this fall

I am stoked by this news, though I hope they do it smart and give folks more options rather than less. I personally, sometimes like the start screen, and sometimes like the start menu. Just depends on where I am looking to go. Still, with Classic Shell, I have gotten very used to having...

Can the new Windows 8.1 bring back users?

That just backs up my point. Most people are probably not ready for it, and this is only an issue usually up until you install classic shell. Still, most people don't know classic shell exists, so why was that functionality not just included in the original design as a option? What harm would...

Can the new Windows 8.1 bring back users?

Threads like this can be frustrating to read as so many tend to confuse opinion with fact, and suppose that what is true for them, ought to be true for everyone else. I see myself as a Power user, and I have used 8 since it was in Beta. I ran it in Vanilla (no classic shell) for well over a...

Microsoft is bringing the Start Menu back

I agree that windows 8.1 with classic shell, is a better experience than 7. I still firmly believe that MS should have allowed users more flexibility and choice around how the GUI would be set up out of the box. I have yet to speak to a relative or non-tech-savy friend who knew about classic...
