Trying to stay on topic. I was wondering the same. This news article came out in June. And now windows 8.1 is here and this feature does not seems to be there.
Looks there is also no longer an easy ability to forget this network option as well. They would've been an easy way to disconnect and then pick whether to allow sharing on re-connect. Now it seems you will have to delete networks via netsh and/or registry xml files
So I downloaded the Remote Desktop client for ios to play around with it but I have a question about whether I can configure Remote Desktop to share the screen. It seems that while I can connect to the console session, the screen gets locked on the pc. If I remember I think non server remote...
ugh Microsoft dumbed downed the wireless settings again. Can't even right click on the network any more to change the settings. Thanks for this thread though to see where it got buried to.
I thought Windows 8.1 was supposed to come with built in finger print enrollment so I removed the Digital Persona thing that was part of my control panel in windows 8 however when I try to set it up in windows 8.1 without it there is a section in the account setup to sign in with a fingerprint...
Having a problem with the setup box with an 8.1 pro preview I'm trying to upgrade. The product key works but then I get the We can't connect right now when I click next
With all these new settings added to pc settings it seems if you search for any setting that has been added to this app only the app will show up as an option when searching for a setting. For example if you type mouse the only things you can click on will open the pc settings app. The old...
I let it update overnight. seemed to have gone smooth. now checking out the new stuff.
I see it changed my desktop background. probably because i was on the default theme and not something custom.
Also noticed 2 new items in windows features turned on and not sure what they are: work folders...
what makes you think that? you could update and then do a refresh and it would produce the same results. so why would 8.1 not work the same as 8 with the option to install without saving anything
They have already done that. There was an update a while back that describes an action similar to what you are describing.
I hope that since this update will be download through the store and not windows update the full download will be available and can be clean installed
I have a laptop and have the default power setting that work fine for me. Monitor goes off in 10 minutes. Computer will sleep in 30. After 4 hours it hibernates.
It's weird that they will offer the preview so easily through the store and potentially cause all these problems. One would think they would make it a little more tech savvy to preview 8.1 and require an iso download and only a clean install
Libraries will no longer be displayed in the navigation panel - What the heck? rather than making it easier to access files they are further hiding them?
