The local group policy is always enforced unless overwritten by a domain group policy.
For this setting it does state
This presumably just means that it is enforced once you set a time. Have you tried that?
Does it check out in the screensaver settings? Should be the same value just in...
Use one of these keys to install, then enter your key and activate.
Windows 8 (core): 334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT
Windows 8 PRO: XHQ8N-C3MCJ-RQXB6-WCHYG-C9WKB
Okay. There is possibly a way to install 8.1 directly.
There are instructions how to get a 8.1 ISO file and then I believe you use a generic key to install and then you enter your key and it will be activated. If you have 8.0 activated you should be able to read your key with a tool. I haven't...
That didn't work for me. I had a laptop with Windows 8.0 pre-installed but I replaced the HDD with a SSD so I had an empty hard disk and the 8.0 key in the BIOS
I installed 8.1 and it asked for a key and didn't activate. I called Microsoft and they asked for a key. I told them it was in the...
please provide full specs in your profile so we can see what kind of RAID you have.
I assume you have Intel Chipset RAID?
In this case, I believe, you cannot use AHCI for one Disk and RAID for the others. It is either or. However, Intel Raid should support all the AHCI features you may...
Try using a different installation medium.
You can use the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to copy your Windows 8 DVD on a USB flash drive and boot and subsequently install from the flash drive.
You can get the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool here Microsoft Store
As a last resort what Microsoft tells to do is to
1) disconnect from the internet
2) install a clean 8.0
3) disable download of drivers from Windows update
3) reconnect to the internet
4) Install Windows Updates (without drivers)
5) Install 8.1
Looks like you are not alone
Have you tried
detaching all peripheral devices (except monitor, keyboard and mouse perhaps although if the mouse is "fancy", the mouse driver could be the problem (SteelSeries - Gaming Mice) not sure about your Rapoo 7100P)
Update the drivers for all devices that...
welcome to the forum. You can update to Windows 8.1 via the "Store" app. There are specific instructions from Microsoft as to which updates you need to install before you can update to 8.1. From my experience I can assure you, it is better to install all available updates. When...
I am installing Windows 8 and the Gigabyte mainboard gives three options regarding the OS
Which one to choose??
Obviously it is one of the Windows 8 options. Both will unlock a few new settings like the Compatibility Support Module (CSM) or (not visible on the screenshot) Secure Boot. But...
A system scope approach which doesn't require user settings or power settings:

If you have obtained Windows 8 via upgrade, it shouldn't be a problem.
Either way, you should have a serial number for Windows 8, an installation medium (DVD, USB) and that should be enough. You can always call Microsoft if internet activation fails.
If you don't have an installation key or a...
