I actually love being able to come to this forum for a change and actually have useful, current and engaged discussion on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. So often, this forum is just used for Windows Mail integration, Windows 10 upgrading, or games. I love being able to discuss current Windows...
Actually, Windows 8 is what I'm using, so it's definitely relevant. The effect of Server 2012 updates and Flash vs the use of Windows 8.1 updates bears the same result.
Plus, it's nice to actually have some relevant conversation on this forum, on the OS that this forum is ACTUALLY about. So...
Since 2016. Unfortunately, this forum never really embraced this, but it was a hit on MSFN.

How would I be any better off on Windows 8.1 than on Windows 8 with Server 2012 updates? You realize Server 2012 and Windows 8 are CODEBASE IDENTICAL right? Even the updates are called Windows8RT-KBxxxxx. Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1 are alike as well. The updates are indeed effective...

This is not unprecedented. I skipped an update in early 2018 that had the Spectre/Meltdown workarounds. I proceeded with every month after that until July...
If I download this October’s updates from the Microsoft Catalog for Windows Server 2012 or for Windows 8.1, do they still remove the built in Adobe Flash component?
I last installed updates on Windows 8 back in June. I'm hoping I can skip the last three months (which include the Flash removal...
I'm hopeful that someone has a clever way of retaining Flash on a Windows 8x system, even after the update has been installed. I play locally installed self-executable Flash games like YetiSports, and I wish to keep using them on Windows 8.
Over at Ten Forums, I have to say though many were sensitive to when I brought up any negative commentary about Windows 10. That should not have been the case either. Mind you, I love Windows 8
Classic Shell - Start menu and other Windows enhancements
Yes it's no longer activley developed, but it's nowhere near being "behind" in terms of what you need for Windows 8x.
