go back to post 41.and download the tool from Microsoft ,run it and choose what version of win8.1 you want ,

Run WSReset.exe (which clears out the Windows Store app cache) and as soon as that was done my Windows Store app started to work as it should..
so right click on the windows icon,lower left corner ,and open run .and type in wsreset.exe ...

you need to boot to the dvd [if that is what you bought ] and install it as a new windows install .
You can't upgrade from winxp to win8.1,[to the best of my memory ,its been so long ] you have to do a full/fresh install .
a chrome book is an internet based device ,you would not be able to do the things you want to do .
the HP notebook looks good ,but myself I prefer a full size laptop .I do have a older acer one notebook ,but its gets very little use

hello ,hard to know what happing with the card ,but I would think the instruction for vista wouldn't be much different that win8 .
plug in the card and go to device manager and see if any red x or yellow ! show for your card reader
I have been using win8 and 8.1 since they came,on 2 different desktops ,and still using the same hdd on both ,I assume you are referring to file corruption with some of your drives ,
and win10 is only a preview, so it has not even been released to manufactures yet ,for them to create device...
