I'm not sure about that.
I know of at least one forum member, who doesn't share your optimistic appraisal of the situation.
Not here in Australia.
I'm glad I bought my 8GB kit (DDR3 1333) in January 2013 ($50 Au).
A couple of months after that purchase, the price doubled and it hasn't gone down since.
As far as I can tell, that price increase was across all RAM sizes and types.
If they didn't want complaints maybe they shouldn't have "interpreted/massaged" the telemetry so that it appeared to support their predetermined position.
Abusing your critics/customers is always a good way of increasing sales and silencing critics.
Pale Moon would have to be re-engineered (or forked) if Firefox was rebuilt.
Browsers (like other software) probably still contain legacy code, which might not be efficient when used with the newer web standards.
Take extensions in Firefox as an example.

Whenever I try to upgrade my graphics drivers (ATI and NVidia), Windows reports that their performance has decreased.
Most of my graphics driver updates result in Windows reporting that their performance has decreased.
As a result, I suspect that the updates are just a scam...
I meant the last 18 months.
Anecdotally, I personally had some W7 update issues, but I didn't have any XP issues.
I actually had to reimage my PC today, because the current "problem update" in W7 wouldn't uninstall.
I wasn't referring to GUI issues.
Apparently there was some change in CPU...
MS' record hasn't been good the past 18 months.
W7 has had several dodgy updates in that time (there's one at the moment).
W8 has had big problems with major updates (just check out the posts about W8 to W8.1 issues).
Interestingly I can't recall seeing complaints about XP updates during this...
All of it, as long as some CEO gets a huge bonus as a result. :sarc:
Any benefits to the consumer are purely coincidental and unintended.

I think it was closer to $2K here in Australia.
I could build (or even buy) a monster PC with that kind of cash
Now that there is a big push to move to 2160p (I've decided to refuse to call it 4K) imagine how tiny text would be on a 2160p tablet.
If the screen was 20cm x 11.25cm (8" x...
HW vs SW Cost Ratio
I believe that the exact opposite will occur.
As hardware becomes cheaper, the (apparent) cost of software increases.
When a PC cost a few thousand dollars, spending $500 on software didn't seem that bad.
Now a PC costs a few hundred dollars, spending $500 on software...
Outlook Express is probably better than the two programs I mentioned earlier.
"Lost Technology of the Ancients." :D
I've been using a Mac All-in-One for the past few weeks (at TAFE).
It hasn't impressed me with its proclaimed ease of use (I'm still floundering helplessly).
