I have Realtek HDA 6.0.1.8186 currently installed, dated 2017.
ID hardware: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEC_0885&SUBSYS_18491890
Motherboard manual quotes this details: "ALC890 Audio Codec"

So which is the latest driver I could try? Sometimes I am experiencing audio stuttering with realtime audio streaming.
Thank you.

does this audio problem occur sometimes (intermittent or occasional) or is it most frequent (aka. persistent)?

use programs such as DPC Latency checker or LatencyMon to diagnose.

the audio popping/stuttering problem is actually a complex problem that has many different causes (and many possible solutions)
I don't know if using either an old or a new Realtek audio driver will make any difference.
also I'm not sure if even a faster CPU will help (the fastest CPU for your ASRock P55 deluxe board might be an Intel i7-875K cpu which can be overclocked) or whether to use older or newer graphics drivers for that nVidia NVS 300 graphics device.
maybe even max out on RAM (the max amount of RAM for ASRock P55 deluxe is 16Gb)
temporarily disable any antivirus real-time monitoring features may help - also removing certain non-essential apps loading at startup might also work

it's gonna be a trial & error effort to solve that audio popping/stuttering problem.

by the way, there's a 6.0.8899.1 FF00 Realtek HDA driver available that works on Win8.1 {download link to github repo recently removed March 2020 due to a recent DMCA notice - recently now pointing to an alternate link}.

Only PC manufacturers so far that are aware of the Realtek HD Audio driver security problem are Hewlett-Packard and Lenovo and have issued updated audio drivers for some affected systems.

Is there only x64 driver available? I'm restoring an old Asus laptop on which I'm able to run only Win8x86. Sound card works good on last supported OEM system that is Vistax86/Vistax64 with driver provided from Asus. However if I install Win8x86 and if i use the same old driver provided for Vista, sound is crappy and mic has resonance. The hardware id is VEN_10EC&DEV_0861, so it should be ALC861, but Realtek HD Audio utility says codec ALC660 on Vistax86. The driver icludes these files: RtHDVCpl.exe, RtlUpd.exe, drmk.sys, portcls.sys, RTKVHDA.sys, RTCOMDLL.dll, RTLCPAPI.dll, RtkAPO.dll, RtkPgExt.dll, RTSndMgr.cpl, SysFxUI.dll, WMALFXGFXDSP.dll. I've made reference to Determine the HDA Realtek driver needed for your Audio - Windows 10 Help Forums and seems that i need FF00 generic driver without integrations and hence found the latest 8899_FF00 on some post somewhere else but the setup says that it is incompatible with the system, maybe because it is intended only for Win10x64, as said in the first post from Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [2] - Windows 10 Help Forums Which version should i pick for Win8x86?

none of the above - what is the model number of the Asus laptop? maybe run Speccy to gather hardware specs.

the 8899 FF00 driver is completely incompatible with VEN_10EC&DEV_0861 regardless of Windows version, Rallye89 - it will never work on there as it does not support ALC880 & ALC861 chips (those chips are from the Win2000/XP/2003 era).
I know because I had a very old Intel D101GGC motherboard using Realtek ALC861 audio chip on there with hardware ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0861&SUBSYS_8086C601" - it requires HDA.inf file (for 32bit/x86) or HDX.inf file (for 64bit/x64) which many newer & older driver versions do not have. you did not inspect the INF files (like HDART.inf, HDXRT.inf, etc.) in either the WIN32 or WIN64 folders of the Realtek HDA driver package you got

last Realtek HDA driver to include the generic HDA.inf and HDX.inf files (along with the HDAHP880.inf & HDXHP880.inf files for ALC880) is version 6.0.8799.1 FF00 (not 6.0.8899.1)
many other versions before or after 8799 FF00 do not have these files.

you're right, my eyes didn't notice ALC861 for how many hours I spent on this jalopy! XD
it works slightly better than vista oem driver, maybe audio circuits are degradating?
it's an Asus PRO31CJ, never had such problems on audio except on modern switchable graphics and hdmi audio related issues.

Thanks at least for now! <3

I think you mean ASUS "PRO31JC", not PRO31CJ as there is a Pro31Jc model listed on the Asus support site.

A little late for this but here's the site on how to gather or find a hardware ID of a particular device:
How to Find Hardware ID: 9 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow
Use the info on that site on gathering the hardware ID number of the "Realtek High Definition Audio" device from the Sound, video and game controllers section of Device Manager on your Asus Pro31jc laptop.

Yeah, i misdigited the correct model. Found a solution with your driver, then editing the sound space, mic levels and equalizers i've made the sound seem not so horrible at all. Then looking on the internet found that someone had same issues with the audio board, i mean poor quality, they claim the electronics to be faulty, someone said that gave back to laptop in warranty program. Not in my case, now this 14yo pc is still usable with limitations! ;)
